Bobby Brown Says Whitney Died Of A Broken Heart, Not Drugs

Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary (easy access to drugs, extensive understanding of butt anatomy, prescription spectacles), Bobby Brown is not a medical doctor. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know a thing or two about science. In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Bobby said that he knows what really killed Whitney Houston and it wasn’t drugs. Bobby believes Whitney died from a broken heart.

According to Billboard:

When asked about what caused Houston’s death in February 2012, he said he believes she died from a broken heart. “She was a great woman,” he said, adding that he doesn’t believe there were drugs in her system. “I don’t think she died from drugs.”

You might be tempted to take Bobby’s opinions with a grain of salt given that he’s a self-proclaimed ghost fucker with a history of substance abuse but if there’s one subject he’s an expert on is his beloved Nippy (why else would he risk the ire of Cissy Houston by padding out his autobiography with lurid details about Whitney’s personal life? Wait, never mind I think I just answered my own question.) Unfortunately Bobby didn’t elaborate on who or what broke Whitney’s heart, but it wasn’t drugs, ok?

It’s true that Whitney didn’t have a ton drugs in her system at the time of her death (comparatively! Whitney’s “resting coke levels” would probably have been enough to make an elephant fly) and her weakened heart also played a role so maybe there’s something in what Bobby says. It’s much nicer to imagine Whitney floating out of this world in full Ophelia mode than whatever the sad truth is, so I’m gonna let Bobby have this one. Maybe Whitney finally found out where broken hearts go.
