Greedy conglomerate Netflix, which is quickly sinking into its own ocean of un-popularity, has descended a few more leagues into the Sea of Stupidity with its latest decision to re-release the 1997 disaster film Titanic in the wake of the Titan submersible tragedy. It’s only been a week since we learned of the outcome of the ship’s ill-fated mission of trying to reach the actual Titanic on the ocean floor, and many believe Netflix’s decision to add the film to its roster is tone-deaf considering the timing.

There’s been lots of blame going around over the deaths of five people aboard the OceanGate submersible that was reported missing during a voyage to see the submerged wreck of the Titanic. And people haven’t been shy about placing blame and wondering why anyone would want to board a tiny death trap of a vessel just to catch glimpses of a rusty crusty Titanic through a little window. But filmmaker/ocean explorer/Titanic whisperer James Cameron says the real person at fault here is the sub’s captain, Stockton Rush, who doubles as the CEO of OceanGate.
