Earlier this month, it was announced that rose-counting reality show host robot, Chris Harrison, was leaving The Bachelor franchise after he did a disastrous interview on Extra where he defended a contestant’s racist past. We heard that ABC stuffed eight figures in Chris’ pockets to go the hell away. Well, Variety published an in-depth article about the behind-the-scenes goings-on of Chris’ exit and I’m sad to say he only received a measly $9 million, plus contractual fees. Poor guy! How will he survive?!

The only person getting richer than Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather this week is going to be Chris Harrison. The former host of The Bachelor series has lost his gig for good. 49-year-old Chris had been the host of the show since it debuted in 2002 but got put in a timeout recently. Chris defended a contestant on the previous season of The Bachelor, Rachael Kirkconnell, from the “woke police” after she was found to have participated in some highly racist Antebellum balls. Chris went away for some classes from a race educator but I guess that wasn’t enough. Because he’s not coming back to the show. But don’t cry for him, Bachelor Nation. It’s been reported he was paid eight figures to leave. Um, when can I get fired and then be rich enough to never have to work again as a consequence?

The Bachelor has had few openly LGBTQ people involved with the series at all whatsoever. Former Bachelor, Colton Underwood, recently came out as gay and got a Netflix gig, a contestant on Bachelor In Paradise, Demi Burnett, brought her girlfriend onto the show, and former contestant, Jaimi King was the first openly bisexual person on the show when she dated Nick Viall in 2017 for the 21st season. Well the times, they are a-changing! At least in Australia. The new season of the Australian version of The Bachelorette will feature the first-ever openly bisexual lead, Brooke Blurton, who will be dating both men and women.

The first season of The Bachelor franchise with a black male lead, 29-year-old Matt James, was a mess. The Antebellum party-past of one of the contestants, 24-year-old Rachael Kirlconnell, became a huge racial issue and when the host of the franchise, Chris Harrison, tried defending her, the backlash against him was swift and he’s taking a break from the franchise. And after all that, Matt picked Rachael during the finale last night. Then during the After The Final Rose special, Matt said that he dumped Rachael over her past racist posts. What a shitshow.
Chris Harrison Plans To Return To “The Bachelor”
Chris Harrison stepped away from The Bachelor after an interview he did with Rachel Lindsay, one of the only two Black Bachelorettes in the show’s history. Chris defended a current Bachelor contestant, Rachael Kirkconnell, and her propensity toward going to Antebellum balls, posing with the confederate flag, and pushing QAnon conspiracy theories. Chris called out the “woke police” and that led to backlash, which led to Chris stepping away from the show to do some racial soul-searching. Soul searching complete, I guess!
Chris appeared on Good Morning America today telling Michael Strahan that while he has more work to do, he absolutely plans to come back to The Bachelor.
