Aretha Franklin Cancels Shows Due To Health Concerns
Last year when I found out that legendary singer Aretha Franklin could possibly stop touring forever, I immediately gave Groupon all of my coins so I could see her perform, and I wasn’t disappointed. She hit the stage wearing a low-cut sparkly gown and a full length fur coat. In July. And when I tell you that lady sang like her life depended on it, I’m not lying. It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Well, everyone join hands and slide into a chorus of “Say A Little Prayer” because Auntie ‘Retha has been ordered to refrain from touring due to health concerns.
Sarah Silverman Nearly Died
When reality hits you smack on the head, it ain’t pretty. You know those moments when you’re like “Is this really happening to me?“. I had one of the those moments last night while watching The Neon Demon. But, that’s not anywhere in the ballpark of how harrowing a week Sarah Silverman had. One of my favorite funny ladies, and ladies in general, nearly died last week. Thankfully, she’s ok now.
Sarah took to her Facebook to give an update on why she’d been radio silent for a little bit. Sarah had a sore throat, but didn’t think much of it. Eventually she decided to go to hospital. Lucky for her she didn’t just try and ride it out; turns out she had epiglottitis. The Wrap, in reporting the news, informs me, and now you, that epiglottitis is a potentially life-threatening condition wherein the base of the tongue swells up, thereby not allowing for air to pass to the lungs. Scary. Fucking. Stuff.
Sarah’s message to friends, fans and the hospital that saved her life is after the cut.
Yoko Ono Is In The Hospital
If you felt a sharp jab of pain in the part of heart that is reserved for the AVANT and the HAUTE, that’s because ARTIST and CREATIVE PERSON Yoko Ono was rushed to the hospital. Originally thought to be a stroke, it turned out to be less serious “flu-like symptoms” according to her spokesman, via Page Six.
It’s being reported that a call was made to 911 around 9pm Friday night from her Upper West Side apartment and the person calling said she had “slurred speech” and was “possibly having a stroke.” Soon after the call, she was rushed to Mount Sinai West hospital. Her son, hat enthusiast Sean Ono Lennon, tweeted:
Hey guys it was only rumors from press: was NOT a stroke, just dehydration/tired. She is FINE. Thank you everyone for your concern @yokoono

Only stroke @yokoono had was a Stroke of Genius! 🙂 She’s really fine. Thanks for all the well wishes! Big Love, Sean — Sean Ono Lennon (@seanonolennon) February 27, 2016
Although some would say “oh that’s creepy!” that she was rushed to the same hospital John Lennon passed away at after he was assassinated in 1980, I don’t. She’s lived in the damn Dakota, aka the Rosemary’s Baby building, since 1973 and Sinai West is the closest hospital. I’m happy she’s ok. I have a lot of friends that love her for her ART and MUSIC but I love her for her greatest achievement – breaking up The Beatles. Yes, I’m a Beatles hater. (Come at me!) Stay strong Yoko.
