Elton John’s Ex-Wife Is Suing Him For Some Reason
Many moons ago, long before he was the Queen Bitch we know and love today, Elton John dabbled in heterosexuality. He even married a woman, German sound engineer Renate Blauel, in 1984. It ended in divorce just four years later, and Renate’s kept a low profile ever since. But last week she randomly re-appeared, filing paperwork to seek an injunction against Elton. Ah, of course, an injunction, which is, um… a… (wait for the Google) a legal action that forces someone to refrain from a specific act.
Renate’s lawyer says she’s “hoping to resolve it amicably”, but wouldn’t clarify what “it” was. So what does she wanna stop her ex-husband from doing? Apparently injunctions are usually related to “privacy matters or to prevent publication of material”. Oh god, is Elton gonna leak their 80s sex tape?!
Last year Elton released his perfectly titled autobiography, “Me”, and got into the divorce:
“I’d broken the heart of someone I loved and who loved me unconditionally, someone I couldn’t fault in any way,” he wrote. “Despite all the pain, there was no acrimony involved at all. For years afterwards, whenever something happened to me, the press would turn up on her doorstep, looking for her to dish the dirt, and she never, ever has: she told them to leave her alone.”
Classy. If Elton had broken my heart, I’d spend the rest of my life spilling dirt and getting revenge. A grudge holder, I am. But apparently Renate just wanted to get on with life:
“I saw her once after we divorced … When I had children, I invited her to [John’s home] Woodside because I wanted her to meet them; I wanted to see her, I wanted her to be part of our lives, and us part of hers, in some way,” he wrote. “But she didn’t want to, and I didn’t push the issue. I have to respect how she feels.”
Their marriage was also briefly covered in the movie Rocketman. Hmm, is Renate pissed her 30-year-old heartbreak is being dug up for books and movies?
