Open Post: Hosted By A Cat’s WTF Reaction Over A Vet’s Technique

April 22, 2023 / Posted by:

For those of us with pets, going to the vet can be a traumatic event for everyone involved. For the pet, they don’t know why they’ve been transported to the cold, sterile medical office at the strip mall. For the human, putting a cat in a cat carrier is close to a Sisyphean task. But sometimes, it can be funny. Veterinarian Dr. Zonram Liao shared a video of his remedy for a cat who had just eaten a lily. The cat was…perplexed.

The cat had recently taken a bite out of a lily. Messed up fact: lilies, while very pretty to have in the house for Easter or spring, are very toxic to cats. After having consumed the deadly flower, the cat’s human brought the poor pussy to Dr. Liao for help. The scientific remedy: spin the cat around till it throws up!

That’s the same WTF face I made when I saw that Alec and Hilaria Baldwin picture. FYI, the cat is doing well after its brush with death and its adventure on the swivel chair:

The cat in the video was just fine after being cared for by Liao and his team. But the method to get his body to reject the toxic substance left the internet in stitches.

“It’s pretty difficult to make cats vomit in general, and so in this case, the cat didn’t vomit with an injection alone—so spinning the cat can help cats vomit in these cases,” said Liao. “Luckily for us, it worked well for us here.”

I guess it would’ve been animal cruelty if they took the cat out for shots and cocktails to make it throw up. So, remember, folks: if you have a cat, DON’T keep lilies nearby, and swivel chairs are official medical equipment!
