Scarlett Johansson Says Her Ego Is Too Fragile To Be On Social Media

Now that Scarlett Johansson has somersaulted her way out of playing Black Widow for the rest of her life, she’s focused on her other endeavors, including her business and her family. What she is NOT focused on, however, is the dirty, glass-covered playground of danger called social media. And the reason why ScarJo isn’t interested in letting people know every aspect of her life twenty-four hours a day is that she claims her ego is much too fragile to endure that kind of scrutiny. So, science teachers, update your curriculum to include the new fact that trees have egos!
Let us all eye roll in unison as we travel down memory lane for some of ScarJo’s greatest hits. For example, the fact she has been saying weird things in interviews for many years. Or even worse, whenever she speaks about Woody Allen, it makes us all want to take a thousand showers to scrub off the ick, so fuck having a fragile ego ScarJo. Nobody wants to hear from you on social media or anywhere else. However, according to Page Six, even though we don’t need an explanation as to why she’s not on any social media platforms, ScarJo gave a lecture on lurking during her appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast. She adds that social media is not something she wishes to engage in during her free time.
“I can’t. My ego is too fragile,” the “Black Widow” star said on Dear Media’s The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast Monday. “I can’t deal with it. My brain is too fragile. I’m like a delicate flower.”
Johansson, 38, shared that she once tried using Instagram for three days before noticing she was going down a rabbit hole.
“I spent 20 minutes looking at somebody’s Instagram page who worked for a friend of mine … like, now I know you have a pit bull and two daughters and you live in Burbank,” she said, noting that she “wasted 17 minutes” of her time looking at the profile.
“I now feel like I should move to California, get this specific dog and change my life in all these ways. I felt so bad, like I was missing out on this random person’s life.”
Oh, ScarJo. I’m sure this “random” woman you Insta-stalked for 17 minutes thought to herself, “This trick wants to be a tree?” when she combed through your “random” ass life quotes so you can keep your comments to yourself. But ScarJo also admits that she only uses social media when it’s necessary, like when she’s promoting her skincare line on Instagram. And even then, she claims she comes across as awkward as a toddler with a flip phone.
The Outset — co-founded by Johansson and Kate Foster — occasionally features videos created by the business partners, which the movie star herself jokingly called “terrible.”
“I mean, it’s definitely fun. Anytime I see it in the office, I then become a 3-year-old with their mom’s phone where I’m completely absorbed into it,” Johansson shared, adding, “It’s fun, though.”
Aaaaannnnd that’s ten seconds of our lives we’ll never get back ScarJo. But then again, I’d rather give her ten seconds now than almost two hours for her upcoming performance in Wes Anderson‘s attempt at ruining everyone’s corneas. My brain is much too fragile to process that many colors all at once.
