Cristiano Piquet, the paraglider who spotted an injured lady in need and helped save her!

The Miami Herald says that Cristiano Piquet, who is a realtor and owner of Piquet Realty, was out paragliding with a friend through Miami-Dade County on Sunday morning when he flew into a Woman Down Code 10 situation. Cristiano spotted a woman in the canal, and no, she wasn’t going for a leisurely Sunday morning swim in alligator-infested waters. The woman was left busted up and shocked after she somehow crashed her car into the canal and couldn’t get out. Cristiano immediately went into Captain Save-A-Ho mode, and he and his friend, made an emergency landing to help the woman out. And now she’s recovering from her injuries thanks to Cristiano’s heroic move. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, it’s a paragliding Florida realtor!

Cristiano tells The Miami Herald that every Sunday morning, he and his friend usually go for a little paragliding ride before church, and he always records it. It was fitting that he was about to go to church since he came across a woman who needed a Hail Mary. Cristiano says that while they were paragliding around Homestead, FL, he saw an alligator splashing in the water and decided to circle back around to get a shot of it. Surprisingly, the alligator wasn’t wearing a tied napkin around its neck while holding on to a knife and fork. Because when Cristiano got closer, he noticed the car in the canal and then the woman who was down and out. As the woman screamed for help, he landed in a nearby field and ran over to help her. A neighbor, who heard all the commotion, came out to help the woman by pulling her out of the canal with a rope.

Paramedics arrived, and the woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Cristiano’s paragliding pal was injured while landing, so he needed to be treated as well. The police are currently investigating how this accident happened. Cristiano ended up missing church, but he didn’t care since Jesus needed him in that canal more!

According to Miami-Dade fire, six units responded to the traffic accident involving a vehicle in a canal near the 20400 block of Southwest 192nd Street at 8:35 a.m. Finding the driver already out of the water, crews searched the area to make sure that no one else was in the canal and took the woman to the hospital.

“For some reason I was better suited being there at the right place and the right time,” he said.

Here’s the whole rescue:

It looks like this saga got a happy ending since upstanding citizens were able to get to the woman before an alligator did! And I fully expect paragliding STUNT QUEEN Tom Cruise to post a video of him paragliding into the ocean to save a littler of kittens clinging to a fiery boat as sharks circle around them. Tommy is not going to be shown up like this!
