Mark Wahlberg Moved His Family From California To Nevada To Give Them “A Better Life”

Caitlyn Jenner tried to warn us, but did we listen? No, we did not. And now the Great State of California is losing one of its buffest assets. Mark Wahlberg has joined the scores of economic refugees before him who’ve fled the state in their private jets in search of greener pastures. Page Six reports that the former Funky Bunch frontman has packed up his fleet of luxury jalopies and moved to income-tax-free Nevada in search of a better life for his children. Not sure if he stacked the contents of his $90 million LA mansion into his $2 million fleet vertically like the Joads in The Grapes of Wrath, which is traditional for salt of the earth types such as himself, or if he made his wife and children travel by foot while he flew ahead to scout out the tax credit he’s hoping to use to build a “state-of-the-art studio,” shoe factory and a separate factory for his apparel company. I’m going to guess the kids went on foot because why else would he need so many shoes in the promised land now that his days of boiling them for sustenance are over?

Mark, the only major Hollywood star to successfully campaign to have the “hate crimes” heading on his Wikipedia page scrubbed, has big plans for what he’s calling “Hollywood 2.0,” since Hollywood 1.0 has been such an incredible hardship for him. Mark says in all the “many years” he lived in California, he “only made a couple of movies in the entire time.” Hey, I wouldn’t want to count most of the 30+ movies he’s starred in over the decade+ he lived here, either. According to Page Six:

Appearing on Tuesday’s episode of “The Talk,” Wahlberg opened up about the “biggest challenge” he faces while having to balance his career and being a family man.

“I want to be able to work from home,” Wahlberg, 51, said. “I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there.”

“So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”

Wahlberg shares four children; Ella, 18; Michael, 16; Brendan, 13; and Grace, 12, with his wife of 13 years, Rhea Durham.

As most California residents know, horseback riding, basketball, and golf have all been banned due to poverty. The horses keep getting eaten, the basketballs are being deflated and used as tires, and the less said about the sorry state of our golf courses, the better. It’s not from lack of water, believe that! Mark’s dream for a new life sounds incredible, but as with all souls set their sights on new horizons, success is all but guaranteed. Mark’s livelihood hinges on the results of the 2022 Nevada gubernatorial election. The Daily Mail reports:

Wahlberg wasn’t shy about admitting that his move out of California was about taxes, though he focused on how they would affect his businesses.

‘After this gubernatorial election, hopefully we go to legislation and get a bill passed so we can get tax credits for the state, build a state of the art studio here and make this Hollywood 2.0,’ he explained, though he didn’t share which candidates he thought would be most likely to accommodate those goals.

If things go Marky Mark’s way, his kids can say goodbye to dinners of dry protein powder and raw eggs. In Nevada, where the streets are paved with silver & bitcoin, Mark should be able to afford to add water to those shakes and have enough fuel to cook his children’s eggs to a safe temperature. But oh, no! Look out!

My GOD. Those poor crops. Dust Bowl 2.0, here we come.
