Kathie Lee Gifford Says She Will Not Read Kelly Ripa’s Book That Discusses Regis Philbin

Kelly Ripa’s got a new memoir, Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories, to hawk, and while hawking it, she brought up her complicated relationship with her longtime co-worker Regis Philbin. Regis and Kelly hosted Live! with Regis and Kelly together for ten years. Kelly claims Regis’ teasing was a huge point of contention in their early years, but ultimately the two of them had a great relationship. And somewhere, on a Carnival cruise ship underneath the moon and stars, friend and former co-host Kathie Lee Gifford received a Lifeline from Regis with a simple message; GET HER!! Because now, Kathie Lee is clapping back at Kelly’s memories of her relationship with Regis by letting everyone know that she will not read Kelly’s book.

People reports during an interview with Good Day New York, Kathie Lee was asked about Kelly’s book. Kathie Lee remembers her time with Regis in a different way than Kelly does and provided just enough shade to let everyone know she will only open Kelly’s book to rip out pages to burn inside her fireplace.

“I’m not gonna read the book. I haven’t read it. I don’t even know if it’s out yet,” she explained. “I just know what Regis was to me. He was, for 15 years, the best partner a person could ever, ever have professionally, but he was my friend.

“We were dear friends and after I left the show, for the next 20 years, we became better friends, dearer friends. I saw him two weeks before he died and the minute I found out he had passed, I got in my car and drove to their house,” Gifford added.

And as far as Kelly’s bathroom stall cries during the beginning of her Live! tenure, Kathie Lee basically replied with, “Suck it up!” Because KLG says that Regis only teased people he liked.

She said she “was very sorry” to read the headlines about the book, which debuted last month, recounting her reaction: “I saw that and I went, ‘Oh, I hope this isn’t true.’ I just hope it isn’t, because what’s the point? I don’t get it.”

“In all the years I knew him, I never saw him unkind to anyone. I never did. If he liked you, he teased you,” Gifford continued.

Meanwhile, Kelly is rushing home after her taping of Live! to pull out her Ouija board for an exclusive supernatural interview with Regis with one question; “Are you mad about what I said in the book?“. And I’m sure the powerful force that sends the planchette on the board hurling towards the wall over the YES before shattering into a million pieces will ensure she never speaks of this again.
