The Police Are Investigating Prince Charles’ Charity After They Allegedly Offered Honors And Citizenship In Exchange For Donations
The police are currently investigating one of Queen Elizabeth’s kids right now. Not exactly a shocking thing to read, considering the cops were on Prince Andrew’s tail for the better part of three years. But in this case, the police want to talk to Andrew’s older brother, Prince Charles. According to reports, Prince Charles’ charity, The Prince’s Foundation, is being investigated over accusations that it was used in an alleged cash-for-citizenship scam. But the similarities between the two might end there. Because unlike his brother Andrew, it would appear as though Charles is actually cooperating with the police who are investigating his maybe-shady activities.
Last September, The Prince’s Foundation came under fire when it was reported that it was caught in the middle of a citizenship scam. According to reports at the time, a letter discovered in 2017 revealed that Prince Charles’ closest aide at the time, Michael Fawcett, had volunteered his services and connections to help a Saudi billionaire businessman and Prince’s Foundation donor, Dr. Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz, in obtaining British citizenship and a knighthood. According to reports, Dr. Mahfouz had made hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of donations to the charity. Essentially, the accusation was that Dr. Mahfouz’s charitable donations might have come with a complimentary Thank You gift in the form of a British passport and the honor of having The Queen tap a large sword on his shoulders.
Michael Fawcett claimed in that letter that he’d be more than happy to hook Dr. Mahfouz up with as many donor perks as possible. There was no speculation. The only way Michael could have made it more clear was if he’d signed the letter: “PS: Can I throw in a handsome Prince’s Foundation tote bag too? You know, to carry your new unethically-obtained British passport in.” As such, Michael resigned as chief executive back in September. But now the police are investigating this situation, and they want to talk to the big man himself, the Prince in the Prince’s Foundation, Prince Charles. via People magazine:
The Metropolitan Police announced on Wednesday that detectives have launched an investigation following allegations that donations to the charity were made to secure official honors and British citizenship for a Saudi businessman.
The Prince’s Foundation was rocked by the allegations that first surfaced in newspapers last September. The charity, a branch of which was visited by Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Kate Middleton earlier this month, is cooperating with the inquiry, PEOPLE understands.
There have been no arrests, Scotland Yard said in a statement. A spokesperson for The Prince’s Foundation said, “It would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing investigation.”
It was previously reported that Prince Charles claimed he had no idea this scam was happening and he was in the dark about anything regarding favors for donations. But he better book at least an afternoon’s worth of time for that one-on-one with the police, because there are bound to be questions. The donations that were being solicited were allegedly going towards restoration on Dumfries House, a huge property in Scotland that has been a bit of a pet project for Charles. He dumped millions into purchasing the house before it was sold at auction. On top of that, Charles is the one who bestowed Dr. Mahfouz with his new title. Originally he was up for an honorary OBE, but Charles reportedly upgraded him to an honorary CBE in a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace in 2016.
Plus, there’s reportedly a missing £500,000 that nobody can account for. It was allegedly made by a rich Russian type in exchange for a fancy sleepover at Dumfries House. That invite was later revoked, but nobody knows where the cash went. Oh, and also – it was reported that The Prince’s Foundation went into business with a Latvian tycoon who was later arrested for money laundering.
So, Charles might be in a bit of trouble here. Prince Andrew has probably jumped in to help, in a language Charles might understand. In exchange for the return of all his little military medals, Andrew will provide Charles with the secret to getting out of this messy situation. Andrew leans in and whispers: “Write a check, Chuck! I’m sure you’ve got £500,000 lying around somewhere.”
