Open Post: Hosted By Cher’s Declaration That She’ll Never Go Gray

January 5, 2022 / Posted by:

Cher may be 75-years-young, but, like my great-aunt Shirley, she will never, ever, ever let her hair go gray! The icon (Cher, not Shirley) is currently starring in a M.A.C. Cosmetics campaign with rapper Saweetie, 28, and she talked to People magazine about beauty and style. Cher says that going gray “is fine for other girls,” but she’s “just not doing it!” Um, this is in no way surprising. Cher will never let herself look her real age. It’s her (and her plastic surgeon’s) superpower.

Cher also talked about how her beauty philosophy has changed over the years, via People:

“It’s had to morph. It’s had to have changes,” she says, adding that rather than being in a full face of makeup these days, you’re more likely to see her with a freshly-washed face and “hair in a knot, because I’m going to the gym.”

When she wants to get glam, she’ll reach for “big eyelashes,” she says. (And for those hoping to impersonate her iconic look, Cher has some very sage advice: “I think a little bit less is more, because sometimes you can shoot for it and shoot past it.”)

She added that “you never stop being a girl. If you never stop being a girl, you’ll never get old.” Tell that to Baby Jane!

Here’s the new campaign with Saweetie, whom Cher didn’t know before, but she “liked her essence.” Cher says she and Saweetie got along really well, and that she comes over to her house for dinner! Lucky biotch:

This “never gonna look old” shit reminds me of MadTV’s “Believe” parody from over 20 years ago, starring comedy queen Mo Collins. Anytime I hear the real song, I sing, “Do you believe that I’m 85?” instead of the original lyrics:

And to think, they were already making “she’s old” jokes about Cher when she was in her early 50s!
