Open Post: Hosted By This Teeny Tiny NYC Apartment
A TikTok user named Axel Webber has gone viral after posting a tour of his self-proclaimed “Smallest Apartment in New York.” Axel lives in the West Village, the same neighborhood as celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker, Scarlett Johansson, and Karlie Kloss. But unlike those richies, 22-year-old Axel can’t afford to spend more than $1,200 a month on rent. So he’s forced to make do with a “micro studio apartment” that’s only about 75 square feet. This shit makes Saddam Hussein’s spider-hole look like the Ritz!
When you first walk in there’s a sink immediately to your left. Beside that is the “kitchen”: a small fridge, microwave, and a little shelf for food and dishes (one bowl, one plate). No stove. Beside that is Axel’s “living quarters,” which features a bunk bed with a twin mattress on top and a queen on the bottom. Wait, why two beds when you have that little space? Situated beside the floor-bed is a piano. And directly across from the sink is a tiny closet. The end! Here’s the horrifying tour:

A bunch of the comments asked, “WHERE’S THE BATHROOM?!!!?!” and Axel posted another video explaining that he uses a community bathroom. He has to bring his own toilet paper every time nature calls:

Axel told ABC News that his least favorite thing about the apartment is the very thin walls. But he insists that he likes his new digs, via ABC7 News:
“I’m happy because where I was before this was in a car, just living out of a 2000 Volvo.”
He adds that even though his situation isn’t ideal, it’s “certainly better than where I’ve been,” and that the only thing he misses more than a personal bathroom is his mom back in Georgia. Hmmmm… is that Axel’s way of sucking up to his mom so she’ll pony up and send him some rent money? If so, you’re outta luck, kid! You wanted to move to the big city you saw in And Just Like That…, and now you’re paying the awful, rat-infested price!
