Oprah Is Distancing Herself From Dr. Oz’s Senate Campaign

Dr. Mehmet Oz is currently running as a Republican in Pennsylvania’s Senate race, which has caused him to end his talk show. Oprah is to blame for Oz at least since she brought him up on The Oprah Winfrey Show and then helped him launch his own The Dr. Oz Show. But she’s not endorsing him because that would be a bad look. She could always tell him who her PR person is though, because Dr. Oz and his wife Lisa Oz are apparently so bad at media communications that they didn’t hang up on a reporter before talking shit about her, so she heard it all.

New York Magazine’s Olivia Nuzzi wrote a profile on Dr. Oz’s campaign and for her piece, New York Magazine asked Oprah to give a statement. And well, Oprah shrugged, pretty much.

“One of the great things about our democracy is that every citizen can decide to run for public office. Mehmet Oz has made that decision. And now it’s up to the residents of Pennsylvania to decide who will represent them.”

LOL, that’s some tepid shit.

And in that same New York Magazine piece, Olivia recounted a nearly four-minute phone call where Dr. Oz and Lisa Oz complained about her and her reporting. Olivia couldn’t reach anyone in Oz’s campaign headquarters, or at the phone numbers associated with Dr. Oz himself, so she decided to try his wife’s number. Lisa didn’t want to talk and hung up on Olivia… or did she? Nope, she thought she hung up but she accidentally connected her phone to the speaker of her car, so Olivia heard the convo between her and her husband. via Business Insider:

“She’s down at the office,” Dr. Oz told his wife of Nuzzi. “Your father called and said there’s a reporter from The New Yorker waiting for me down there who said she had an appointment … We?! We had an appointment to meet today!”

“You think she made it up?” Lisa Oz asked.

“I think she made it up completely!” Dr. Oz said. “Y–y–you know what it’s — it’s — it’s called, it’s called lying also. It’s called being a liar.”

Lisa Oz called Nuzzi “this fucking girl reporter” and referred to a baseless accusation from Corey Lewandowski, the former Trump campaign manager, that Nuzzi had broken into his home in 2018 in the course of reporting an article about Hope Hicks, the former White House communications director.

FUCKING GIRL REPORTER!” What in Lex Luthor cursing Lois Lane HELL?!

Dr. Oz was also pissed that Olivia had spoken to one of their friends, Michelle Bouchard, who gave Dr. Oz glowing reviews; apparently too glowing. Michelle said that Oz and other Republicans like Glenn Youngkin of Virginia are part of a “new guard” and that people should be “very grateful that someone that intelligent and that objective, someone of his caliber who is able to reach across aisles, is actually running. He’s the greatest healer I’ve ever known.” Even though Michelle seems as delusional as Dr. Oz, he didn’t like what she said about him being the future leader of the Republican Party.

“She said things she shouldn’t have fucking said,” Dr. Oz said of Bouchard. “She shouldn’t have fucking said— ”

Lisa Oz interjected, telling Oz, “She didn’t say—”

“She said shit she shouldn’t have said!” Dr. Oz replied. “That I was going to be the next leader of the Republican Party— ”

“No, she didn’t say that,” Lisa Oz said.”You were the one who told me that!” Dr. Oz said. “You told me that’s what she said!”

“No — I— ” Lisa Oz said.

“That Michelle told her I’m going to be the next leader of the Republican Party, shit like that, that’s what you told me she said!” Dr. Oz said.

Their marriage seems healthy. It’s giving me “Alec and Hilaria Baldwin’s roadside press conference” fuckery. And I’m guessing that Olivia Nuzzi muted her phone or else her laughing at this buffoonery would’ve made Dr. Oz and Lisa realize they didn’t hang up the phone and they’d scream, “Drats! That fucking girl reporter really got us!
