Several Families Of Astroworld Victims Have Turned Down Travis Scott’s Offer To Pay For Their Funerals

The current death toll for the tragedy at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Fest in Houston, Texas on November 5th remains at ten people dead, with the youngest victim being just 9 years old. Travis Scott has said he’ll do whatever it takes to make it right to the victims of the Astroworld. Even if he’s totally not the one responsible for all those deaths and injuries, according to his spokesperson, but he’ll still step up and do the correct thing. Travis has offered one month’s worth of therapy for those who need it and has offered to cover the full cost of a funeral for any victim’s family. But three families want absolutely want nothing to do with Travis’ funeral offer.

Travis is currently facing a number of lawsuits from attendees of the Astroworld Fest and the families of the victims. The latest being a $2 billion class-action lawsuit filed by 282 victims of the lack of crowd control at the show. TMZ writes that the family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount, the youngest of the victims who died in hospital from his injuries, has turned down Travis’ offer to pay for funeral and burial expenses. They have, however, filed a lawsuit over Ezra’s injuries. A lawyer representing the family of 14-year-old John Hilgert, who died at Astroworld, has also confirmed that the family would not be accepting a check from Travis Scott to cover the funeral for John. That lawyer didn’t explain why the family chose to wave off Travis’ money, they only confirmed that they turned Travis down. John’s family has also filed a lawsuit regarding this situation.

Lawyers for the family of 27-year-old Danish Baig, who died attending the Astroworld Fest, tell TMZ that they turned Travis down because they were 100% insulted by the offer they received and that they’d never want Travis to have anything to do with one of the saddest days of their lives.

Attorney Michael Lyons – who’s representing Baig’s family in a civil lawsuit against Travis and others – tells us “We received a written offer from Travis Scott’s attorney Dan Petrocelli indicating that he would pay $7,500 in funeral burial costs and my clients are rejecting that.”

Seventy-five hundred?! That’s probably what Kylie Jenner spends on fake clip-in ponytails a day! It’s a shocking number, especially if you have any experience planning a funeral. $7,500 will get you the basics like chairs and triangle-cut tuna sandwiches, but that’s nowhere near enough to cover a tasteful dove-release or respectful light show. That number is clearly insulting, which is why a source close to Travis jumped to his defense, by saying that at “no point” did Travis’ people put a $7,500 cap on funeral expenses. And a letter sent from Travis’ lawyer to the victims reportedly doesn’t include a mention of the cap.

It’s not known if any of the other seven victims’ families have turned Travis down or taken him up on his offer to pay for a funeral, but right now it looks like no one has taken the money, whatever amount it may be.

Everything about Travis Scott’s damage control rollout feels like it’s backfiring. Families that have been devastated in an unimaginable way are still like, “Yeah, thanks but no thanks” when Travis offered to open his wallet. Honestly, even if Travis gets one family onboard, his luck is so bad, I bet that funeral would end up being a PR nightmare too. Especially if Kylie and her family try to chip in and help. The poor bereaved loved ones show up and are greeted with a mountain of flowers, generously provided by Travis Scott. But wait, why are all the flowers kind of wilted? And what’s this card tucked between the roses addressed to a K name? Wait a minute…is this just a repurposed flower arrangement from one of the Kardashians and Jenners’ many tacky, wasteful expressions of love? And why is the reception being catered by Flat Tummy Tea??
