Geena Davis Has Finally Settled Her Messy Divorce

Despite the fact that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are one teeny tiny step closer to ending their custody fight, they’re given a reminder that it is possible to be a famous actor and effectively be able to end shit once and for all. Case in point, Geena Davis, who after three and a half years of fighting with her estranged husband, has finally settled her divorce.

Geena’s husband of 17 years Dr. Reza Jarrahy filed for divorce in May 2018 and stated that they separated in November 2017. And just like the Brangelina divorce, Geena and Reza’s divorce took so long to settle that one of their kids aged out of a custody agreement. Reza, who is a Los Angeles area surgeon, filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences,” and requested spousal support, as well as joint legal and physical custody of their three kids, Alizeh, and twins Kian and Kaiis, then 16 and 14 respectively. But he also asked their judge to bar Geena from asking for a single dime of spousal support.

Geena fired back with the allegation that she was never legally married to Reza and that his divorce petition should be thrown out. Geena claims that while they did have a legit wedding, they deliberately never filed the paperwork. She claimed that any property bought during their marriage – or “marriage” – can’t be split equally, and said she shouldn’t have to pay someone who wasn’t legally her spouse any spousal support. The state of California, where they lived, doesn’t recognize common law marriage, so a fight over property started.

According to MSN, Dr. Reza wanted everything to be split down the middle, in the name of fair vs. square. That didn’t happen. A source tells Page Six that Reza might have walked away with a little more than what he could fit in a box to the left because he was sick of dealing with Geena Davis:

According to a source, Jarrahy wanted to end the marriage through mediation, dividing their assets and sharing child custody equally. But the source said the 65-year-old Thelma and Louise star told her 50-year-old husband “to lawyer up,” as she took the position that they were never actually legally married and therefore there would be no division of any of their property.

And the source implies that Geena got pretty much everything.

“They were very unfavorable to Reza, who agreed to settle just to put this behind him and be free of the nightmare Geena has caused for him. Reza has had enough of her narcissism,” the source adds, “so he was willing to take a bad deal just to make her go away and refocus on the kids.”

“This has been devastating for Reza. Geena’s priorities since day one have been to preserve her lifestyle and wealth above anything else.”

The source also alleges that Geena and Reza collectively spent over $1.5 million on legal fees.

Clearly, their judge didn’t consider them to be legally married, and therefore they didn’t have to split anything. Exhibit A: Geena sold their Pacific Palisades mansion for $5.63 million a year ago. Page Six’s source says that Reza didn’t see any of that money, because public records showed that Geena purchased the home in 2007. And since she wasn’t legally married to anyone…well, you get the idea.

Because of all the money they allegedly dropped on their divorce, Page Six’s source claims a destitute Dr. Reza was forced to couch surf with his friends, and at one point was living out of his car. Oh by the way, Dr. Reza is a chill dude looking for a roommate situation and is 420 friendly, but no pets please, and definitely, no copies of A League of Their Own in the media stand. Actually, with that being said, Debra Winger would make a perfect roommate for Reza.
