Lily Collins Got Married To Charlie McDowell Over The Weekend

Prepare for a wedding announcement that will surely sound like the result of playing a quick round of Celebrity Spawn Mad-Libs. Because almost everyone in this story is famous or famous-adjacent. There are even some famous names that will get dropped that have nothing to do with these notable nuptials. But here’s what you need to know right away: Emily in Paris’ Lily Collins, seen above in so much white lace your grandma’s living room windows would be jealous, got married over the weekend, and the man in the brown velvet sharing the “I do” duties is her fiancĂ© of nearly a year, Charlie McDowell.

People magazine says that 32-year-old Lily and 38-year-old Charlie got married in Dunton, Colorado, on Saturday, after about two years of dating. They both took to Instagram to announce the news with a couple of pictures from their wedding, which looked very rustic. They were way out in the woods with the mosquitos and ticks and poison sumac and everything. I would not be surprised if guests found a small buck knife perched on their dinner plate with a tag that read: “Use this to whittle your own cutlery from the cedar branches provided! If assistance is needed, ask the banjo player who is 80% beard.” Fitting, as Lily & Charlie definitely sounds like an event company that rents out decorative Edison bulb string lights.

Charlie Instagrammed much of the same, commenting, “This moment will forever play inside my head.

But let’s cut to the chase here and explain who Charlie McDowell even is. Charlie’s Instagram bio would describe him as a “writer/director,” but he’s also the son of Mary Steenburgen and Malcolm McDowell, stepson of Ted Danson, pretend son of Andie MacDowell, and the former boyfriend of Rooney Mara, Emilia Clarke, and – honestly this one shocked me to the core of my being – Kristin Chenoweth. Lily Collins is, of course, the daughter of musician Phil Collins. Love and nepotism, is there anything better? Of course not. And I joke about these two coming from well-connected stock, but that’s a benefit for them, at least in regards to figuring out their guest list. All they had to do was start at Lily’s Wikipedia page and start clicking through all the blue hyperlinks until they had the bulk of their wedding invites covered.
