Letitia Wright Was Injured While Filming “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”
Black Panther star Letitia Wright has wisely kept herself out of the headlines by keeping her mouth shut and staying off social media ever since getting dragged to hell and back last December for posting some anti-vaxx quackery on Twitter. Unfortunately, fate stepped in and Letitia’s in the news again, though this time through no fault of her own. According to Deadline, Letitia had to be rushed to the hospital last night after being injured on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Thankfully she only received minor injuries and has already been released from the hospital. But her accident let the small domesticated panther out of the bag because now we know that Letitia is in fact returning as Shuri despite previous speculation that the addition of Michaela Coel to the cast may destroy her (odds of coming back after the shit she stirred).
Yes, I see what I did there and I’m sorry. Deadline has since updated this report to let us know Letitia has already been released.
During an overnight shoot in Boston for Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, sources tell Deadline that Letitia Wright suffered minor injuries due to an incident with a stunt rig.
“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon,” a spokesperson for Marvel said Wednesday.
Sources say the incident was minor and will not have an impact on the film’s shooting schedule.
While the incident took place in Boston, the primary shoot has been going on in Atlanta going back to the end of June. Wright is reprising her role as Shuri along with Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba and Angela Bassett in the sequel to the global hit, with Ryan Coogler returning as director.
The film has a July 8, 2022 release date.
Here are some photos from the shoot, and I have to say, I did not expect to see Letitia dressed like an auntie walking down to the liquor in her best tracksuit to get a pack of Kool’s circa 1991. I get that it’s futuristic, you can tell from the cargo pockets, but I’m getting some vintage Eddie Murphy Raw vibes here.

I guess in Wakanda Forever, time really is a flat circle.
