Issa Rae Got Surprise Married Over The Weekend
Issa Rae never really struck me as a princess type but she got surprise married over the weekend in the South of France to businessman/banker Louis Diame wearing a custom Vera Wang gown and tagged White Eden Weddings “as seen on Martha Stewart, Style Me Pretty, Brides & more” in her Instagram post announcing the news. It doesn’t get any more princessy than that! I guess rapping about your pussy doesn’t exclude one from wanting a fairy-tale wedding, so good for her!

The Insecure star, 36, revealed that she married longtime beau Louis Diame on Sunday, July 25, sharing glamorous photos from her destination wedding on Instagram. She tagged the post’s location as Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, which is a commune in the South of France.
In the wedding photos, Rae smiles in her custom Vera Wang gown, as well as in romantic snapshots with her new husband, who wore a red Dolce & Gabbana suit.
Issa rarely posts her personal business on Instagram and has previously said “I get so much feedback about everything, the one thing I don’t need feedback on is who I’m sleeping with.” So this is a first.
Issa’s so private in fact that according to Elle, “no one knows how he met Rae or how long they’ve been together,” adding:
Rae typically avoids talking about Diame during interviews. But eagle-eyed fans have traced the couple’s romance back to at least 2012. In a Washington Post piece about The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, Rae’s breakout project, Diame is identified as her “boyfriend.” The outlet also notes that he’s a 29-year-old student (which would make him about 37 now) and that he appears in episode 7 of Rae’s series.
And from the sounds of it, Diame was probably a student at the International Academy For International Men of Mystery.
While many celebrities prefer to keep their relationships to themselves, Rae and Diame have truly gone the extra mile. It’s difficult to confirm anything about his profession, although outlets such as Marie Claire and Martha Stewart Weddings have identified Diame as a “Senegalese businessman.” A LinkedIn page under the name is private, but lists his profession as an Independent Banking Professional in the Greater Los Angeles Area.

Back in March 2019 at the 2019 NAACP Image Awards, Rae’s Insecure costars Jay Ellis and Yvonne Orji confirmed that Rae was engaged while they walked the red carpet.
Rumors of her engagement first began to swirl after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on the cover of Essence magazine’s April 2019 issue. Rae and Diame have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight, though the businessman has accompanied the actress on several red carpets over the years.
Congratulations to Issa, of course, but also congratulations to Issa’s friends for being able to keep their mouths shut for so long. You won a free, all-expenses trip to a chateau in the South of France!
