Gillian Anderson Has Split Up From “The Crown” Creator Peter Morgan

If you have a rabid Gillian Anderson fan in your life, today is not the day to bother them with non-urgent questions. They’re likely too busy trying to get a handle on the wide range of emotions they’re likely feeling upon learning that Gillian Anderson is single again. Because after four years of dating The Crown creator Peter Morgan, they’re done.

The Daily Mail says that 52-year-old Gillian confirmed she was dating 57-year-old Peter back in 2016, at a party in New York City to promote the first season of The Crown. They got together four years after Gillian called it quits with her previous partner, and two years after Peter separated from his wife, Princess Anna Carolina Schwarzenberg. Peter and his estranged princess wife are still legally married. Sources say that Gillian and Peter decided to end things amicably and that they remain “great friends.”

Another source says that the relationship basically just ran its course and that it was hard coordinating date night when they have 8 children between them to juggle. Peter came into the relationship with five, while Gillian has three from two previous relationships. Also, they were busy. Peter has the fifth season of The Crown coming up, and Gillian has the third season of Sex Education that’s going into production.

It’s nice things ended amicably, but a little part of me can’t help but think it wasn’t totally amicable. There’s no way you wouldn’t have at least a tiny bit of resentment after the man you were with put you in a series of wig this hideous. And of course, Gillian is likely a little sad that this relationship is over, but there’s definitely a silver lining in their breakup. And it’s that I’m sure she’s relieved that she’ll never again have the type of conversation that inevitably has her interjecting, “Ew NO, that’s Piers Morgan. Different person!
