Wentworth Miller Is Done Playing Straight Characters

Fox has been discussing the possibility of a new season of Prison Break, that show about sexy, sweaty, blueprint-tatted bad boys who, I assume, want to do a prison break. But the show’s star, Wentworth Miller, says he won’t be apart of it. Wentworth, who is gay, explains he’s done playing straight characters. Fair! When you publicly pretend to be hetero for most of your adult life, that role gets older than Kelsey Grammer’s 20-year turn as Frasier.

Wentworth shared this info on his Instagram, under a picture of a blank white box (which he posts the odd time, usually when he has SOMETHING TO SAY). He explains he’s done playing straight because “their stories have been told (and told)”, and he may disable his Instagram comments. He doesn’t want his younger queer fans being exposed to hateful, homophobic “bullshit”:

Wentworth may be waiting a long time for some juicy queer roles. Usually, they give that shit to “brave” straight actors. But maybe if Wentworth can squirm his way into the Ryan Murphy queer clique, he could book some TV.

And if he doesn’t mind doing some theatre in the meantime, might I suggest heading down to the LGBTQ community center? I hear they’re putting on a production of RENT, directed by LGBQIIA+? ally/AIDS activist Tiffany Trump!
