Open Post: Hosted By A Very Pregnant Katy Perry Doing The “Push The Feeling On” Dance
Every summer needs a viral dance challenge. But because summer 2020 is still all about COVID-19, I would have thought the breakout dance challenge would be a bunch of teens socially distance-dancing to Madonna’s dance cover of “Fever.” But much like 2018’s viral summer dance moment, this one also utilizes the use of a motor vehicle. It involves getting out of a moving vehicle and busting a roadside move to the 1994 dance track, “Push The Feeling On” by Scottish house group Nightcrawlers. But the trend might be nearing its expiration date, because parents have gotten in on it. Kanye West got in on it, and now Katy Perry has dragged her unborn baby girl into it. Someone get an ultrasound machine to see if we can hear Katy’s baby groaning, “MoooOOOOooom, stop embarrassing me!”
To give credit where credit is due, the dance was started after a video of a guy who goes by Mufasa got real hyped up because it was Friday, and jumped out of his car to dance. And technically the video is from last year, but it got popular this year.

Katy’s fiancé Orlando Bloom shot and posted the video to Instagram on Friday, because Friday is a big part of the meme. Katy Perry wasn’t able to bring nearly as much enthusiasm to her attempt, due to the fact that she’s very pregnant at the moment. But she crawled out of the vehicle and gave it her best shot, eventually lifting up her shirt and bouncing her baby around like she was trying to induce labor. Maybe she was? After all, she’s very pregnant. Orlando has recently said that he would be open to relocating to Australia with Katy and raising their little girl there. And I almost wish they had waited to film their version of the “Push The Feeling On” dance until after they moved down under, no matter how old and irrelevant the dance was by then. Because this video would have been great with a surprise kangaroo cameo.
I automatically give Katy a 10/10 for her dance. Because as someone who was once very pregnant, I’m shocked at the personal restraint it took her to not only dance, but keep from snapping at Orlando. “What day is it? WHAT DAY?!? You know what day it is. Why did you stop the car?? Keep driving, I need to go home and pee for the 1,285th time today.”
