Allison Janney Confirms That Anna Faris Is Engaged

A few months ago, Anna Faris was seen walking around in public with a big ol’ diamond ring on her left ring finger, which is almost all the proof you need that someone is engaged. But a few months before that, she appeared on Laura Wasser’s divorce podcast, saying she believed in monogamy, but struggled with the idea of legally binding yourself to another person. Which makes sense, considering she’d already been down Divorce Road twice already. So maybe the ring on Anna’s finger was just a nice gift to herself, or a low-pressure present from her boyfriend Michael Barrett. Thankfully, we have Anna’s TV mom Allison Janney to clear up any confusion about what that ring meant.

Us Weekly caught up with Allison Janney at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie Troop Zero on Monday, and they asked if she had anything to say about Anna’s current situation with her cinematographer boyfriend of more than two years. Allison says she knew way before any of us knew, and added that Anna surprised her with the news one day on the set of Mom.

“I know she’s been engaged for a long time. I kept it very quiet, I’ll have you know! So, I celebrated with them a long time ago. I didn’t know he was going to propose, but I saw the ring one day. I went into her room to work on lines [for the show], and then I was like, ‘What is that ring on your finger?’…I think she was waiting for everyone to notice. ‘Oh, that’s it,’ and then…yeah, it was fun.”

Allison isn’t the only one who is happy for Anna. A source previously told Us Weekly that Anna’s friends all love Michael, and that he gets along really well with her 7-year-old son Jack.

As for the ring, Page Six spoke to a diamond expert who estimates that Anna’s cushion-cut yellow diamond engagement ring is probably worth between $75,00 and $100,000. Here’s Anna taking her ring for a walk in Los Angeles:

Another diamond expert that spoke to Page Six thinks it might actually be cheaper, due to the diamond being a lighter yellow. That expert thinks Michael might have dropped about $20,000 on her ring. It’s an engagement ring mystery. Is Allison Janney sitting on that information too? Will she reveal it at a later date? I’m not sure what kind of conversation would coax that kind of information out of her. Maybe if someone were to ask her what kind of home insurance Anna has. “Well see, here’s the thing. I told her to upgrade to a higher level of insurance. After all, she’s got $100,000 worth of yellow diamonds just sitting there beside her night cream on her bathroom counter.”
