A-Rod Was Robbed Of “Irreplaceable Items” From His Rental SUV

I guess you could say that A-Rod was the victim of a-rob…bery. That worked better in my head. That terrible joke was almost as shameful as what thieves did to A-Rod when they reportedly pilfered nearly half a million dollars worth of goods from his rental car. The actual value is still up for debate, but the general consensus is that A-Rod was cleaned out.

TMZ says this all happened on Sunday in San Francisco. A-Rod was there commentating on a Giants game against the Philadelphia Phillies for ESPN. A source says that A-Rod’s rental SUV was broken into a few blocks away from where the Giants play at Oracle Park, around 10pm, while he was having dinner after the game.

Sources say that A-Rod was at the park for most of the day, which means his SUV was unattended for a while. I always assumed A-Rod kept a driver on stand-by at all times, in case JLo texted him “YOU ME PHOTOSHOOT NOW“, and needed to make a quick getaway. But apparently he just leaves his vehicle unattended at all times.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the SFPD Burglary Unit is making the robbery case a high priority, because of the value of the items taken. This is where the details of this story become murky. Some sources are saying that the alleged robbers stole $500,000 worth of jewelry and electronics, including a laptop and a camera. However, another source tells TMZ that the value of the items has been “grossly exaggerated,” adding that the actual value of the jewelry and electronics is nowhere near $500,000.

Whatever the value, A-Rod clearly wants his stuff back. He released a statement, and it sounds like some of the items are priceless.

“I am saddened that several items that were of a personal nature and irreplaceable with sentimental value were taken. I am encouraged that local law enforcement has security footage of the crime and are doing all they can to get the items back.”

I would love to have seen A-Rod down at the police station giving an itemized list of those personal, irreplaceable items. I’m just picturing A-Rod saying:

“There was a very special piece of paper with a special message written on it. I guess you could describe the paper as more of a cocktail napkin. And the message included a name, and some numbers. There were 10 numbers. Yeah, I guess you could say it was a phone number. Anyway, I’d love to get that special message from Nikki back as soon as possible, as I have to check out of my hotel room tomorrow at 11am.”
