The New “Sonic The Hedgehog” Is Getting A CGI Makeover After Everyone Hated His Look

Sonic The Hedgehog did not need to be made a movie. And I say that as someone who played a lot of the video games and enjoyed them–even the poorly-reviewed ones! But this movie version of Sonic is one piece of poorly-reviewed blue dog shit I could never, ever bring myself to watch. I’m not angry for the bastardization of something I once loved, I’m just horrified by that creepy AF demonic “hedgehog”. Its legs? Its legs? Like, at least that Detective Pikachu is cute.

I’m not alone in my Sonic-horror; in fact there was so much reaction to how Sonic looks that the director has announced they’re changing it before the November 8th release date.

Endgadget reports that the movie’s director Jeff Fowler took to Twitter to talk to the Tweople after they all came so hard snatching for Sonic’s blue edges.

After that trailer for the Sonic The Hedgehog movie came out, many went off on how goddamn creepy and bad that Sonic creature looked. Points of contention were: everything. The teeth. The legs. The face. The whole shebang got roasted. Here are some of them:

Sonic looks like a meth-addicted mutant cat. Which sort of makes me want to help him because I love cats, but like, not mutant ones.

So the director saw all the comments, heard back from the executives at Paramount who knew no one would spend money on that mess, and then he let us all know that there would be changes:

I guess the support he’s talking about was the people who did his job for him and fixed some of the problems with that blue daemon:

Or maybe he means the people who felt bad for the little CGI hedgehog getting so much hatred:

Listen girl, I appreciate your sympathy but even your GIF looks better than the movie.

Not sure how they’re going to change Sonic completely by November, but after watching that trailer I think also maybe the script and plot will be issues you could… edit. Hopefully production can get it all done in time! But if not, maybe they should think of an alternative. Once again the Internet has found one for them:

Now THIS is a movie I would watch.
