Priyanka Chopra Is Aboard The S.S. “Let’s Salvage Marchesa”

While the most horrific aspect of Harvey Weinstein’s saga was how he allegedly assaulted and harassed many, many women, there was also the bit about how he was the unofficial leader of the Marchesa Mafia. His soon-to-be ex-wife Georgina Chapman runs the brand, and Harvey would reportedly make the actresses in his movies wear Marchesa on the red carpet. Just ask Felicity Huffman! Now that Harvey is facing charges, women have been rallying around Georgina’s attempt to salvage a career since she claims she never suspected Harvey was such a pervy asshole. Scarlett Johansson worked Marchesa to this year’s Met Gala, and now Priyanka Chopra is having a go at it.

People says Priyanka is friends with Georgina and specifically wore a Marchesa wedding dress to her bridal shower in a gesture of “women supporting women.”

Didn’t that come in blue? She was at the launch of Bumble India Monday Night in New York and blabbed more about why she didn’t feel bad wearing the frock:

“Georgina’s a friend of mine, and she has been. And it’s not her fault. And I don’t think it’s right to take it out on a self-made woman what somebody in her life did. That’s the wrong attitude. I’ve known her for years, and that was a beautiful gown, and deserved to be worn by a bride-to-be. And it made me feel like a princess. It was the right choice.”

I mean, fine, but is it the right choice to go to the launch of an app that leads to boinking like Bumble when your ass is about to walk down the aisle to deal?? I jest, I know it’s their “professional networking” version. Yes, and Grindr is there to make life-long platonic friendships. Anyway, the move also comes after Vogue profiled Georgina, who recognized women need time to heal but also she needs a check (she didn’t say that part, but I can read between the lines).
