Jane Fonda Talked More About The “9 To 5” Sequel

If you were wanting Dolly Parton’s on-screen reunion with Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda to be on Grace & Frankie, you’re out of luck. The country queen doesn’t do geriatric vibrators! At a recent panel, Jane talked more about the planned 9 To 5 sequel. And it sounds like they’ll be in charge this time around to impart wisdom on the youngins out there!

Entertainment Weekly says Jane confirmed Wednesday that the sequel is a-go, and she’ll have a hand in how it transpires:

“My role is as an executive producer, and I’m working with the writers, with Lily, and talking to the writers. Right now, Dolly, Lily and I are all intending to be in it.”

Rashida Jones and original screenwriter Patricia Resnick are co-writing the script, and Jane has already said the sequel is supposed to be an update to reflect the modern workplace, which, erm, didn’t exactly differ that much from the 1980 version. But as y’all remember, their boss was never heard from again after getting sent to Brazil and getting abducted by Amazons. Now the ladies are in charge, so they’ll likely still be giving their advice on how to handle the wage gap and sexual harassment.

Jane said the movie will still take place at the same company and could tackle how things are actually worse today than they were at the time of the original film. Presumably, we’re going to view those three as the Lady Oracles at Delphi, and I think that script is way behind the times. I’ve been viewing Dolly as my own Oracle at Delphi since I was cutting my teeth in the yee haw South. I just can’t wait for the movie to have a #metoo movement and her response to begin with, “Well, I’ll tell you to do just what Mama did when her boss at the possum farm tried a little higgledy piggledy on her!
