Shia LaBeouf’s HIGH ART Will Get America Through The Next Four Years

Ever since Donald Trump won, we’ve all been waiting and waiting for a response from the country’s most esteemed performance artist Angelyne. But since Angelyne has kept quiet, we’ll have to settle for Shia LaBeouf for now. Shia and his partners in high artistry, Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner, have followed up their hitchhiking piece titled #TAKEMEANYWHERE with an anti-Trump art installation that will last for the next four years….or until someone (read: Kellyanne Conway in a Gucci ninja outfit) accidentally hits it with a hammer several times during the night.

Gothamist says that starting at 9 this morning, the citizens of the land were invited to scream, “he will not divide us,” at a camera mounted on a wall outside of the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, NY. The camera will be on 24/7 and is livestreaming on this site. The site explains the project like this:

Commencing at 9am on January 20, 2017, the day of the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States, the public is invited to deliver the words “HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US” into a camera mounted on a wall outside the Museum of the Moving Image, New York, repeating the phrase as many times, and for as long as they wish.

Open to all, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the participatory performance will be live-streamed continuously for four years, or the duration of the presidency. In this way, the mantra “HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US” acts as a show of resistance or insistence, opposition or optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant and the community.

Jaden Smith was the first one to break the HIGH ART camera in this morning.

A part of screamed, “Haven’t the people been through enough?“, over this, but then I thought about it. Humanity has proven a billion times over that when you put a camera in front of us, we’ll eventually pull down our chonies and flash our bits at it. It’s human instinct. So I fully expect Shia’s art project to go the Chatroulette way by featuring nothing but dudes waving their peens around as us the viewers think to ourselves, “I want that to divide me.” Shia truly is an artistic genius, because if there’s one thing that brings us together, it’s dick!
