Calvin Harris Didn’t Thank Taylor Swift During His VMAs Acceptance Speech

Former TSB (Taylor Swift Boyfriend) Calvin Harris won the MTV VMA for Best Male Video last night for “This Is What You Came For“, which is kind of funny, considering the video for “This Is What You Came For” is pretty much a glorified photoshoot starring Rihanna. Calvin couldn’t be there to accept his award in person because he was in the UK performing a show. Calvin did film an acceptance speech and he thanked everyone but a certain media-manipulating folk art doll, that is.

Calvin didn’t utter Taylor’s name once during this speech, which is a little weird, considering TIWYCF has her sugary stink all over it. Taylor wrote lyrics for, sang backup on, and owns the publishing rights to TIWYCF. Calvin responded to Taylor on Twitter by admitting they both wrote it before screaming “MEAN GIRL!!!” at her. However, when it came time to issue some thank-yous for TIWYCF, one name was noticeably missing from Calvin’s mouth.

“I need to thank Rihanna from the bottom of my heart. You’re a superstar every time we work together you bring something so magical to the project. Thank you. Emil Nava, the director, you’re a legend. You’re my favorite man on earth. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. And everybody who supported this song, who watched the video, I love you so much. Thank you, this is amazing. I love you. Thank you MTV.”

I get skipping a “thank you” to Taylor Swift, but not even a “thank you” to her alter-ego Nils Sjöberg? That’s rude. Nils worked so hard on that chorus.

Now, I don’t know if not saying Taylor’s name in his acceptance speech was Calvin’s way of pulling some on-purpose pettiness, but the internet is taking it as an act of pure shade. Taylor herself, on the other hand, might not even be aware of all this non-drama. New York Magazine says that Taylor is currently serving jury duty in Tennessee.

Hearing the words “jury duty” gives most people an instant headache, but I’m sure Taylor is loving it. After all, there’s no place Taylor Swift loves to go more than court.
