According to Variety, comedian, actor, radio host, and owner of a face that seemed to be everywhere on television in the late 80s and mid-90s, Jay Thomas, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.
Jerry Lewis Has Died
Variety reports that comedian and telethon enthusiast Jerry Lewis has died at the age of 91. I refuse to believe that Jerry Lewis just walked into the afterlife. Jerry Lewis made his entrance by tripping over a pile of clouds or the tails on a ghost’s tuxedo. At the very least, he definitely announced his arrival by yelling, “Hey angel layyyyyydeeeeeeee!”
Playwright And Actor Sam Shepard Has Died
This news is bound to hit hard for a lot of different people: fans of plays, fans of films, fans of guys who look handsome in cowboy hats and/or pilot gear while appearing in films. A family spokesperson has confirmed to Variety that playwright, actor, director, and screenwriter Sam Shepard has died at the age of 73. Sam died at his home in Kentucky on Thursday from complications from ALS.
Voice Actress June Foray Has Died
Anyone who was a kid anytime in the past 50 years will be bummed out by this news. And it’s not even humans, either. Flying squirrels are no doubt lowering their furry heads and taking a moment of silence today for the most famous flying squirrel of them all. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that prolific voice actress June Foray died yesterday, less than two months shy of her birthday. She was 99.
Chester Bennington Of Linkin Park Has Died
TMZ reports that Linkin Park singer and melodic screamer Chester Bennington was found dead of an apparent suicide just before 9:00 this morning. Law enforcement sources say he hanged himself at a private residence in Los Angeles county. He was 41.
Martin Landau Has Died
Tall drink of water and eyebrow legend Martin Landau has died at the age of 89. The versatile and acclaimed actor passed away on Saturday of “unexpected complications” at ULCA Medical center after a brief stay, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Martin took a circuitous route to stardom having begun his career in New York City as a newspaper cartoonist in the 1950’s, a job he quit in order to pursue acting. In 1955, he auditioned for Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio and was accepted along with Steve McQueen (the only two to make it in that year). And if that’s not enough cool for you, he also became close friends with James Dean and briefly dated Marilyn Monroe. Martin was also a highly respected acting teacher, one of his most famous students being Jack Nicholson.
