But to the baristas of New York-area Starbucks, he’s just that guy who superglued his hand to their counter yesterday. Along with being a prolific actor, James Cromwell is also a long-time activist for a number of causes. And one of James’ current causes involves the price disparity of plant-based milks that are being steamed and foamed at your local Starbucks.

James Cromwell may look like Santa’s dad, but he’s actually only 77 and he’s got a lot of life in him. But instead of taking an elderly skydiving tour or signing up for an Intro to Snapchat class like some active seniors might, he’s out there fighting for what he believes in. That fighting has also gotten him in a bit of trouble. Earlier this month, James was sentenced to a week in jail after refusing to pay a fine stemming from an arrest at a proposed natural gas plant in Wawayanda, NY. James protested again yesterday, but this time he was fighting for the whales.

James Cromwell Was Sentenced To A Week In Jail

James Cromwell isn’t just an Oscar-nominated actor who’s been in every movie and television show ever. The 77-year-old is also an environmental activist who will sit up in his Barcalounger, right in front of your proposed natural gas power plant, until you decide not to build it. Or until he gets arrested and fined, which he did in Wawayanda, NY in December of 2015. Speaking of that fine, James is refusing to pay it. So a Wawayanda judge has sentenced him to a week in jail, according to the Times Herald-Record. At least he’s getting sent up for a noble reason, as opposed to stranding shallow people on beaches with no wi-fi and soggy sandwiches.
