RuPaul Has Spoken Out Against Anti-Drag Legislation

March 9, 2023 / Posted by:

While in his Boy Ru drag, RuPaul took to the internet to finally roast Republicans for all of their anti-drag bills that have been put forth across America. And one of Ru’s solutions against those ridiculous bigoted bills is to vote, bitch!

In case you’ve been living under a blissful rock, the GOP has followed up its attack against abortion rights by going after drag queens and transgender people. As a result, many drag show-type events have been the target of right-wing personalities, threats, and now state legislatures. As pundits accuse drag shows of indoctrinating children into transgenderism, Tennessee just passed an anti-drag bill that would prevent drag performances on public property. Additional laws are being proposed in other states that would prevent people from even being dressed up in drag at Pride parades and celebrations. Kentucky and Montana are two states with their own drag bans being written out, and 11 other states are also getting ready.

Some have been calling for Ru to speak up, but Ru was busy fracking, okay! But Mama Ru has now finally spoken against the bills. via Variety:

“Hey, look over there! A classic distraction technique, distracting us away from the real issues that they were voted into office to focus on: jobs, healthcare, keeping our children safe from harm at their own school,” RuPaul said. “But we know that bullies are incompetent at solving real issues. They look for easy targets so they can give the impression of being effective. They think our love, our light, our laughter and our joy are signs of weakness. But they’re wrong because that is our strength.”

RuPaul continued, “Drag queens are the Marines of the queer movement. Don’t get it twisted and don’t be distracted. Register to vote so we can get these stunt queens out of office and put some smart people with real solutions into government. And by the way, a social media post has never been as powerful as a registered vote.”

Many former RuPaul’s Drag Race queens made a video for GLAAD where they spoke out against the bills:

Well, since RuPaul compared drag queens to the military, I’m sure Drag Race lover and daughter of late veteran John McCain, Meghan McCain is so conflicted. I’m sure she’ll eventually turn on Ru with a 10,000-word piece in The Daily Mail that will win her the Guinness World Record for the most times “my father John McCain” has shown up in one article.
