Chris Rock Had A Lot To Say About The Oscars Slap And The Smiths During His Live Netflix Special

March 6, 2023 / Posted by:

Well, we knew this day was coming because people wouldn’t shut up about it for the past year. Chris Rock has finally addressed the day his face became a personal handball court for Will Smith, and hold back; he did not. Many have been waiting for him to break his silence, but Chris knew the only way to speak on it was if there was a check involved. Netflix immediately responded with, “We got you Chris!” and thus his live comedy special Chris RockSelective Outrage was born. And, of course, during his time on stage, he addressed The Slap as well as the corny Dad joke he tossed at Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, that led to ten billion think pieces.

People reports there really wasn’t much to see here during Selective Outrage as Chris spoke about getting his daughter kicked out of school, the amount of money he’s spent on abortions, and his love of punani. However, at the very end of his Netflix therapy session, Chris finally spoke about the slap heard ’round the world, and he commented on it just as you would have suspected. Because I don’t think anyone went into this performance thinking Chris would be the more enlightened one in the situation since we already know everybody hates Chris. And apparently, Chris hates the Smiths.

Now, Chris knew it was OK to be this free with his words because I’m sure he had provisions in place to have one of his beefy bodyguards swing Will around like a rag doll just in case he decides to become a surprise special guest during his set. And Chris also admitted since Will, who’s 6′ 2, decided to attack him at 5′ 10, it just further proved what everyone had been saying about him when Jada made him look like a fool after revealing her “entanglement” with August Alsina.

On Saturday, Rock headlined Netflix’s first-ever live-streamed event, a comedy special called Chris Rock: Selective Outrage — a title he revealed to be a connection to Will, 54. Though he said he grew up loving and “rooting for” Will, Rock took time in his routine to slam him and his marriage.

“Will Smith practices selective outrage,” said Rock in his stand-up routine, adding of the Oscars slap, “Everybody that really knows knows I had nothing to do with that shit. I didn’t have any ‘entanglements.’ “

“We all been cheated on. Everybody in this industry has been cheated on,” joked Rock in the comedy special, “None of us have ever been interviewed by the person that cheated on us on television. None of us. … Why the fuckwould you do that shit? She hurt him way more than he hurt me, okay?”

Rock then said that “everybody in the world” called Will a “bitch” after the “entanglement” news, and he said he tried to reach out to him about it but claimed Will didn’t pick up. The comedian then went on to repeatedly call Will a “bitch.” He then joked, “Everybody. And who’s he hit? Me, a n—- he knows he can beat. That is some bitch-ass shit.”

Chris then explained that he’s had a sort of grudge against The Smiths after Jada told him not to host the 2016 Oscars (which he did end up hosting) because she felt that Will got snubbed by not getting nominated for his performance in the movie Concussion, which Chris called “the biggest piece of shit ever.” via The A.V. Club:

“So I did some jokes about him. That’s how it is. She starts it, I finish it. OK? That’s what happened. Nobody’s picking on this bitch. She started this shit. Nobody was picking on her. She said me, a grown-ass man, should quit his job because her husband didn’t get nominated. And then [he] gives me a concussion. What the fuck, man?”

Finally, Chris let Will know that he was raised better:

Rock said he didn’t react or respond physically at last year’s Oscars “because I was raised.” He added, “You know what my parents taught me? Don’t fight in front of White people.” Rock then dropped the mic and got a standing ovation before walking offstage.

AND breathe. But not because of anything Chris said since we knew he would be an asshole during his show. Let’s all release a collective sigh of relief, knowing NOBODY needs to speak out on this ever again. Because we’ve heard from everyone at this point, so let’s bury this issue in the backyard next to Jada’s acting career and forget it ever happened!

Here’s Chris going in:
