Chris Rock Will Finally Talk About Will Smith And The Oscars Slap In His New Netflix Special

After laying down numerous jokes about Will Smith’s glorified roommate Jada Pinkett Smith, Chris Rock got slapped by Will so hard it took him a whole year to retaliate. The New York Post says that now Chris is back and ready to live out his Carrie revenge fantasy with his new live and unedited Netflix special called Selective Outrage, which comes out this weekend.  After all the countless commentaries, apologies, memes, and Red Table Talks, Chris is ready to use the slap for jokes for his Netflix special. Well, he did tell us that he wouldn’t talk about the slap unless he got paid.

In case you forgot, at last year’s Oscars, Chris took to the stage to present and casually kept his “feud” with The Smiths going by saying to a bald Jada, who has alopecia,, “Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see you.” And at that moment, years of declining public interest in the Academy Awards were undone with a snap of Will Smith’s wrist. He slapped Chris so hard our brains automatically started singing, “Everybody hay-ates Chris.” To this day, the ears sitting in that audience are still ringing from the shrill of Will telling Chris to keep his wife’s name “out of your fucking mouth!” If anyone else were in Chris’s shoes, they would’ve immediately guested every podcast in Hollywood, done Instagram Lives, and gone on Oprah in the wake of the incident. But not Chris. He knew there was no way he was going to be smacked in front of his entire industry and the whole world without making a penny off it. So here we are, a year later, with an impending Netflix special to serve as Chris’s clap back. (Or slap back.)

The New York Post revealed some moments from the special:

“I rooted for Will Smith my whole life,” he recently told a packed theater. But now, Rock added, he’s hate-watching Smith’s latest movie, in which he plays a tortured, escaped slave.

“The other day, I watched ‘Emancipation’ just so I could watch him getting whipped.”

“We have all been cheated on,” Rock said to the crowd. “She hurt him way more than he ever hurt me.
“Everyone knows,” he said. “I’m not spilling any tea.”

Rock piled on some more. “I felt so bad for Will, I tried to call and give him my condolences,” he said. “Everybody was calling him a bitch except me. But who does he hit? Me.”

And I’m sure Chris will devote an entire section of his set to the desperate apology video that Will made to save face. Chris’ response to the video was, “Fuck your hostage video.” In the video, Will said that he reached out to Chris to talk but was told that Chris is not ready to talk. Well, looks like Chris is ready to talk since that Netflix check obviously cleared!
