Open Post: Hosted By Dionne Warwick Being Mistaken For Gladys Knight
History was made last night as Serena Williams won her 108th(!) U.S. Open title when two hussies misidentified Dionne Warwick for Gladys Knight and survived. Naturally, there were a shit ton of celebrities in the stadium to see what could be Serena’s last U.S. Open and both Dionne and Gladys were there. But ESPN broadcasters Mary Carillo and Chanda Rubin both seemingly agreed that the elegant matron with the iconic short blond hair and cheekbones that could cut a bitch from across a room was Gladys, who plays, instead of Dionne, who absolutely does not. And I’m not talking about tennis, I’m talking about with fools.
Thankfully, Serena won her match, and Mary and Chanda won their freedom from Dionne’s wrath. But for one of them, the shame still lingers. According to TMZ:
While Serena Williams continued to shock the world with her incredible play at the U.S. Open, TV announcers showed celebs who came out to support the G.O.A.T., including Dionne Warwick — the only problem — broadcasters mistook her for Gladys Knight.
And, it was just as cringe as it sounds. Mary Carillo and Chanda Rubin were behind the mic for ESPN … when during the third game of the first set, two women appeared on screen between points.
Chanda: Got some more stars …
Mary: Gladys Knight …
Chanda: Gladys Knight …
Mary: Hello!
Here’s what disrespect looks like on a Jumbo Tron.
Unacceptable, from both of them. pic.twitter.com/kVSTGRslPs

After the match, Chanda wisely hopped on Twitter to explain that she was actually looking in the stands, where Gladys was, “and not our program monitor that showed Ms. Dionne… mistake was immediately corrected.🤦🏽♀️” Chanda said, you’re not getting me dis-invited from my own family reunion! Well, Chanda, it worked! Dionne laughed it off today on Twitter.
Hi, I’m Gladys Knight… and instead of taking that midnight train to Georgia, I won’t walk on by but will say a little prayer for you 😂😐

But what about Mary who initially made the egregious misidentification? Crickets. Leaving us with one very important question— Mary, Mary… why you buggin’? Because, Ma’am!
Ma’am!
