Cheddar, a rare orange lobster who nearly ended up in the peon stomach of a peasant at Red Lobster!

Earlier this month, at a Red Lobster in Hollywood, FL, a beady-eyed orange creature entered the building. And no, it wasn’t Trump stumbling in to treat himself to some real gourmet cuisine. Unlike Trump, this beady-eyed orange creature is extremely unique and gorgeous and ended up in the kitchen of a Red Lobster. But before she found her ass on the plate of someone’s Ultimate Feast, the manager realized she was a unique jewel among the regular lobsters and saved her. I mean, it’s called Red Lobster, not fucking Orange Lobster!

USA Today says that when Cheddar was delivered to the Red Lobster in Hollywood, FL, the restaurant’s manager Mario Roque quickly realized that she’s a rare beauty. It’s a one in 30 million chance that a lobster turns out to be orange because most lobsters don’t want to be that color since it makes them stand out to predators. But in this case, being orange worked for Cheddar. Orange you’re glad, you’re orange, Cheddar? Because the Oompa Loompa of lobsters ended up at Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach where she’ll live the rest of her days. Ripley’s said in a press release that they and the Hollywood Red Lobster named her Cheddar after Cheddar Bay Biscuits, DUH!

Hollywood, Florida, Red Lobster manager Mario Roque, who worked to lead the rescue of Cheddar went on to say, “Sometimes ordinary miracles happen, and Cheddar is one of them. A group of incredible people helped us make this possible. We are so honored to have been able to save Cheddar and find her a good home.”

“We are incredibly proud of Mario and the team for recognizing what a special and rare creature Cheddar is and for working relentlessly to find someone to rescue her,” said Nicole Bott, Senior Director, Communications at Red Lobster. “It is an honor to be able to share the story of Cheddar and provide her a new home where she can be enjoyed by many for years to come, all from the safety of her tank.”

Yay for Cheddar! And this is also great news for the makers of fake spray tanners, bronzers, and orange paint because every lobster in the land is now going to paint themselves orange so they can avoid the boiling pot of doom.

Here’s Cheddar going off to her new home:

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe Cheddar isn’t so safe at Ripley’s after all. I mean, if the Met Gala’s theme is ever sea-related, Kim Kardashian is going to hit up her good friends at Ripley’s and before you know it, her ass is destroying another American treasure!
