Wendy Williams Has Decided To Switch From Television To Podcasting

Wendy Williams has been gone for a little while, to deal with some health-related issues and a little ongoing showdown between herself and Wells Fargo. But she’s made it very clear that despite taking a little hiatus from TV, she would eventually be returning to TV. During Wendy’s last impromptu career check-in, Wendy claimed that she’d be back on television screens by September. Hook up the cables and plug in the power Igor, The Wendy Williams Show lives! Except there’s been a slight change of plans. Wendy’s triumphant return won’t necessarily be through your television, but your ear holes, by way of whatever headphones you use to listen to podcasts. Because Wendy is launching a podcast.

TMZ spoke to Wendy’s manager Will Selby, who claims that Wendy has already started the process of getting into podcasting. Will claims that Wendy has zero interest in returning to television right now, which is kind of the opposite of what Wendy said when she was approached by photographers after the Met Gala back in May. Regardless, Wendy’s keeping her eyes on the prize, and currently, that prize is a successful, celebrity guest-filled podcast.

Wendy Williams is already putting television in her rearview, having decided podcasting is a better fit – but she’s already lining up big names to join her … TMZ has learned.

Will is executive producing Wendy’s upcoming podcast, and tells us Wendy recently spoke to Snoop Dogg and Fat Joe about being guests – as she’s planning to focus more on her own personal favorites from the music world.

In addition, we’re told Wendy’s had convos with the Kardashians, and even a member of the Trump family. Will’s not saying which one, but any of them would be a huge get … considering what’s going on in Washington.

This isn’t to say that Wendy has landed these guests – just that she’s allegedly spoken to some famous types, like Snoop Dogg, or a random Kardashian, about pulling a chair up to a mic and answering the question, “How you doin?“. Will adds that Wendy is still working out the details, like whether she’ll release her podcast on an established platform, like Apple or Spotify, or if she’ll drop it independently. Even though all the talking so far has come from her manager, Wendy has acknowledged that her plan is podcasting, as seen in this video shot last night:

No other details are known at this time, like when her first episode might drop, or what she might name it. But is a podcast the right medium for Wendy? A good percentage of Wendy’s charm and charisma comes from what she doesn’t say. Like how she used to look into the camera with that very special way that said, “Why yes I was about to say the kind of shit that would get my ass called out on social media later today, but my lawyers have advised against it.
