Peter Paul PowerHouse candy bar!

Dlisted reader Marco wrote me asking if I remember PowerHouse candy bar. And well, in all of my years, I have definitely spent a lot of time staring at the candy bar section of a 7-Eleven or Target, and I don’t think my eyes have ever landed on a PowerHouse candy bar. I would’ve known because the power of PowerHouse candy bar would’ve gone over BIG on my little mind and punched me in the eyes with its power. But PowerHouse was a candy bar from the olden days that is no longer around. However, the power of PowerHouse candy bar lives on thanks to the internet.

PowerHouse was made by Peter Paul Candy Manufacturing Company, which believe it or not, wasn’t the candy company that Peter and Paul started together after ditching Mary’s ass. Wikipedia says that Peter Paul candy company was started in 1919 by six Armenian immigrants including Peter Paul Halajian. The company’s biggest hits were Mounds bar and Almond Joy. But its most powerful creation was obviously PowerHouse candy bar. As for when PowerHouse became the powerhouse of the candy game, I couldn’t find an exact year, but it was around in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 90s. MeTV says that PowerHouse was made up of caramel, peanuts, and fudge, and was The Hammaconda of candy bars back in the day because it was over twice as big as a Snickers.

Four heaping ounces of “Caramel • Peanuts • Fudge.” BOOM. To put that in perspective, a full size Snickers bar is now 1.86 oz.

In this PowerHouse commercial from 1977, a monster with a “laid back stoner from the 70s” voice takes a break from destroying Detroit to hawk PowerHouse candy bar:

And in this commercial from 1982, a bunch of powerhouse athletes declare that the BDE of PowerHouse really fills them up!

Despite its powerful power, PowerHouse candy bar was discontinued sometime in the 80s. Humanity just couldn’t handle its power, obviously. Or maybe it was missing one key to success and yes, I’m talking about a powerhouse dick vein.
