A Crossbow-Armed Intruder Was Arrested At Windsor Castle

A man is under arrest after entering Windsor Castle with a crossbow in an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II. The scarier part is that THE QUEEN was at Windsor at the time since she canceled the annual Royal Christmas celebrations at Sandringham over Omicron. Luckily, the intruder was caught before getting to THE QUEEN. Although, he may have been taken down by her dogs and her flying pocketbook.

But before the scary assassin situation, the Palace released THE QUEEN’s annual Christmas Day address to the country. She paid tribute to her late husband Prince Philip during it. via People:

The broadcast of the speech, which was filmed earlier this month in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, began with an excerpt of a speech the Queen gave to Prince Philip on their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997. “Although it’s a time of great happiness and good cheer for many, Christmas can be hard for those who have lost loved ones. This year, especially, I understand why,” she said in her speech on Saturday, which comes eight months after the death of the Duke of Edinburgh at the age of 99. “But for me, in the months since the death of my beloved Philip, I have drawn great comfort from the warmth and affection of the many tributes to his life and work–from around the country, the Commonwealth and the world,” she continued. “His sense of service, intellectual curiosity and capacity to squeeze fun out of any situation – were all irrepressible. That mischievous, enquiring twinkle was as bright at the end as when I first set eyes on him.”But life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings; and as much as I and my family miss him, I know he would want us to enjoy Christmas… We felt his presence as we, like millions around the world, readied ourselves for Christmas.”

Here’s her address:

But Christmas wasn’t just about great happiness, good cheer, and remembering Prince Philip. The New York Post says that on Christmas morning, an intruder who claimed to be a “Sith” was there to “assassinate the Queen.” Yes, Sith, like Star Wars. Less than a half-hour before breaking onto the grounds of Windsor Castle, 19-year-old Jaswant Singh Chail posted a video where he explained his plan:

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I’ve done and what I will do. I will attempt to assassinate Elizabeth, queen of the royal family,” the hooded man says in a distorted voice while holding the black weapon. “This is revenge for those who have died in the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre,” Chail continues, referring to the Massacre of Amritsar in India, where British troops killed 379 unarmed protesters and wounded some 1,200 on April 19, 1919.

“It is also revenge for those who have been killed, humiliated, and discriminated on because of their race,” adds the suspect, who is also wearing a white mask. “I’m an Indian Sikh, a Sith. My name was Jaswant Singh Chail, my name is Darth Jones…”

Jaswant allegedly used a rope ladder to climb over the metal fence of the property and enter the gardens. The QUEEN, Prince Charles Duchess Camila, Prince Edward, and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, were all at the castle at the time. Officers say that “security processes were triggered within moments” of Jaswant’s arrival on the premises. Thames Valley Police Superintendent, Rebecca Mears, says an investigation into the incident is ongoing, via The Sun:

“The man has been arrested on suspicion of breach or trespass of a protected site and possession of an offensive weapon… He remains in custody at this time. We can confirm security processes were triggered within moments of the man entering the grounds, and he did not enter any buildings.”

In a statement, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said that “following a search of the man, a crossbow was recovered. The man was taken into custody and has undergone a mental health assessment.“

Yeah, they caught the guy, but he was still able to climb a fence. What THE QUEEN’s security should do is tape pictures of Prince Andrew along the fence. No one would go near that fence, let alone climb it!
