Open Post: Hosted By Rudolph Getting His Ass Whooped By Another Reindeer
It’s just a week until Christmas and as we’re all getting into the Christmas spirit (read: getting drunk and recklessly Amazon shopping), some members of the animal kingdom are celebrating the holidays in a different way. By destroying reindeer decorations! Ok, maybe they’re celebrating it just like us. A few years back, Arlene Chmelyk and her family put up a jolly decoration in the shape of Rudolph the reindeer featuring his red nose and all. However, the appearance of a new reindeer didn’t sit well with the neighboring wildlife. Every year, Rudolph is viciously attacked by local reindeer and, no, it’s not for his big red nose. The competitive bucks think he may have something bigger and brighter!
Looks like there’s a new, edgy version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to tell your kids. Via UPI:
Arlene Chmelyk of Fort Nelson said her family first repurposed the 3D archery target, made in the size and shape of a white-tailed deer, into “Rudolph the Red-Nosed White-Tail” about 5 years ago, and they quickly discovered local deer apparently couldn’t tell the difference.
She shared video of a recent attack on the decoration to Facebook.
“Every year a buck in the area attacks him or hits and knocks him over and breaks him,” Chmelyk told CBC News.
She said she was surprised that the deer weren’t warded off by the glowing red light bulb that her husband installed on Rudolph’s nose.
“I’m like, he has a bright red nose,” she said. “I’m not really sure what they see.”
Chmelyk theorized the bucks, who are in their rutting season, might not be paying attention to Rudolph’s features beyond the decoration’s antlers.

The War on Christmas is real and it’s targeted at Rudolph! However, in spite of the relentless attempts at his life, Arlene plans to continue putting the decoration up. “He’s standing proud,” she commented. Arlene is a testament to the “never give up, never stop putting up tacky decorations” spirit of America!
