Olivia Munn Refuses To Talk About Her And John Mulaney’s Relationship Timeline

Olivia Munn is promoting her upcoming baby her role in the psychological drama Violet and did an interview with the LA Times. She mostly talks about her pregnancy, her relationship with John Mulaney, and the hate she’s been getting from Mulaney-stans who chose Anna Marie Tendler in the divorce. Except Olivia claims her whole thing is to not talk about it. She says she won’t refute rumors about her and John’s shady relationship timeline because it will “feed into a narrative that’s just not true.” She says “the only way to win, for me, is to pull back and to not play the game at all.” And that means she’s not doing a baby bump reveal on Instagram or buying any “cute maternity clothes.” Damn. I wouldn’t wish that kind of sacrifice on anyone.
40-year-old Olivia says, via Los Angeles Times:
“It’s definitely not foreign for me to have people speculate incorrectly about things and to have rumors run rampant in one way.”
She adds:
“They think they know our relationship so well. When in reality, they don’t. There’s no way anyone could know what any of his relationships were or what our relationship is,” she says — speaking in the present tense, for the record.
The article says Olivia has struggled with how much she should share cuz she’s scared of “another internet pile-on”:
Her wording is cautious and halting, especially when she starts to tiptoe around specific rumors relating to her and Mulaney. No wonder she is nervous: Everything she says is bound to be dissected by thousands of strangers on Reddit.
She has chosen not to refute specific claims because it will “feed into a narrative that’s just not true,” especially since people tend to “ignore really specific public signs and actions that completely contradict the false narrative,” she says. “For whatever reason, it’s easier to blame me.”
“If I try to say anything, I run the risk of being called messy or not telling the truth,” she adds. “The only way to win, for me, is to pull back and to not play the game at all.”
Olivia explains that “pulling back” means she hasn’t shared anything about her pregnancy online:
She hasn’t invested in cute maternity clothes, she explains, instead repeatedly washing and wearing the same ASOS sweatshirt and Asian American Girl Club sweatpants she has on during this interview.
“There’s this vulnerability that I feel that makes me want to … just turn everything off,” she says. “I’d rather close the door to that and just take care of myself and my baby.”
Olivia adds that it’s hard to be pregnant for the first time “and have anybody say anything besides, like, ‘Congratulations.'” Fair. That would indeed suck.
That being said, this whole “I won’t comment on the timeline” thing just could be a high-flutin’ cover for 38-year-old John cheating on his wife. Or maybe they were separated at the time. And John is a faithful husband. And Olivia Munn isn’t a fame-hungry “pick me” cool girl who orchestrated this entire relationship and those close-up milkshake pap pics. Sigh. Hopefully, we live long enough to eventually discover the truth. And, boy oh boy, I am praying that Anna Marie Tendler’s divorce settlement doesn’t include an NDA.
