Patrizia Reggiani Is Annoyed That Lady Gaga Didn’t Want To Meet Her Before Filming “House of Gucci”

By now, you’ve surely seen that incredible picture of Lady Gaga and Adam Driver looking like an aunt and uncle on a rich person’s winter weekend in 1984. Despite what it looks like, they’re not filming a movie where both characters are constantly drunk and wink every time they say they’re there for the skiing, unfortunately. They’re in the middle of filming Ridley Scott’s upcoming fashion murder biopic House of Gucci, the story of the assassination of Maurizio Gucci, and his former wife Patrizia Reggiani, who was convicted of hiring the hit on him. Adam can’t really do any personal character research because Maurizio is dead. But Lady Gaga could have helped get herself into character by speaking with the real-life Patrizia. She didn’t do that, and you know what? The real-life Patrizia didn’t like that, and she’s kind of mad about it.

72-year-old Patrizia spoke about Lady Gaga’s snub on Thursday to the Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata (via UsWeekly). The film isn’t even scheduled to be released for another eight months, and already it’s pissing people off. Namely, Patrizia, of course. She says:

“I am rather annoyed at the fact that Lady Gaga is playing me in the new Ridley Scott film without having had the consideration and sensibility to come and meet me.”

For anyone wondering why Patrizia really, really wants to meet Lady Gaga so badly, well – it’s not because she desperately wants to get her hands on some Chromatica Oreos. It’s also not because Patrizia thinks she’s owed some money from Hollywood for using her life story. Patrizia doesn’t need any money. After doing 18 years in prison and being released on good behavior, she was awarded a $1.1 million annuity from Gucci’s estate, and backpay for her time in prison to the tune of nearly $20 million. The reason she wanted Gaga to come see her is simply for the principle of it.

“It is not an economic question. I won’t get a cent from the film,” Reggiani explained. “It is a question of good sense and respect.”

I don’t know, call me crazy, but I think Patrizia miiiiight have lost the right to lecture strangers on good sense and respect after she was convicted of hiring someone to kill her ex-husband. And besides, what would Lady Gaga get out of meeting with Patrizia? Like, if Gaga did end up meeting with Patrizia, it wouldn’t be to study how to look like her, because Gaga’s already got that down:

Not to mention that House of Gucci is based off the book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden. Any extra research she needs could be done in bed over the span of a couple of nights. If anything, Lady Gaga needs to figure out how to Gaga-ize Patrizia. “You know what Ridley, I feel like my character would actually sing the details of the contract with the hitman, you know? And I just so happen to have written a couple of songs, and what do you know? I’ve also brought my piano to set with me today.
