Jared Leto Says He Never Gave Margot Robbie A Dead Rat

What do you remember about the film Suicide Squad? That it made a ton of money? That it was nominated for several Razzies? That you’re having a hard time trying to keep it straight from the upcoming sequel, The Suicide Squad? No, of course not! You remember it for all the gross, possibly biohazardous things Jared Leto allegedly gave to his castmates while he was filming, in an attempt to really get into character as The Joker.

At the time of filming in 2015, Jared really would do anything to make you think he’s the greatest actor alive. There were stories that Jared went full method by getting a “henchman” to drop a dead pig on the table during a rehearsal, sending a bullet to Viola Davis, giving anal beads and used condoms to his fellow cast members, and sending Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn, a live rat. Now Jared is here to tell you that you can stop believing that he gave Margot a dead rat because it didn’t happen.

Jared got into it during a recent interview with GQ about some of his more notable roles, like The Joker in Suicide Squad. According to Jared, the only thing he’s guilty of is sending Margot Robbie some sugar-glazed vegan carbs. via Entertainment Tonight:

“Stepping into The Joker’s shoes is an incredible opportunity. I guess it’s this generation’s version of taking on an infamous Shakespearean character. Lots of people have played the part before, lots of people will play it in the future, so really it’s an opportunity to do something new and to explore challenging territory.

And we had a lot of fun with it. But it’s also interesting how all this stuff takes on a life of its own. I never gave Margot Robbie a dead rat, that’s not true. I actually gave her a lot of…I found this place in Toronto that had great vegan cinnamon buns…so that was a very common thing.”

This isn’t the first time that Jared denied doing what Jared allegedly did. A few years ago, Jared swore he never actually gave anyone involved with the making of Suicide Squad a used condom. And now there’s no dead rat. But the original story wasn’t about a dead rat. Adam Beach, who played Slipknot in Suicide Squad, specifically said that Jared sent Margot Robbie a box with a live rat inside. Was there a rat or not? Where is the rat!? I personally think there is a rat, but she’s living a healthy, happy life somewhere. Maybe the rat moved to France and is now a successful chef. Who knows. It’s the best outcome I can think of.
