Chunky Monkey!

Before that other sporting thing went down last night, the biggest event in the sports world aired, and yes I’m talking about Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl XVII. And while Tom Brady won his 7th Super Bowl, one of the breakout stars of Puppy Bowl, Chunky Monkey, won over seven million hearts just by being Chunky Monkey!

Chunky Monkey is a 15-month-old rescue from Green Dogs Unleashed in Virginia. She lives in Virginia with her new human Cassandra Asekhauno. Chunky Monkey is mixed with Chow Chow and Irish Red and White Setter. (Although, Mashable says Chunky Monkey was called a Chow Chow/Shiba Inu/Maltese mix during the show. What is the truth?!) Cassandra talked to The Burn before the real Big Game and said that they call her Ellie at home but she’s a Chunky Monkey because of the ten tons of fluff on her body:

They call her “Ellie” but she’s still a Chunky Monkey. “She looked the chunkiest out of all of her siblings,” Asekhauno told The Burn. “She was the only one who was super fluffy, but in fact, she is pretty small under all the fluff.”

Here’s my new favorite sports star strutting her ass out onto the Puppy Bowl stage as a member of Team Fluff:

Team Fluff lost against Team Ruff. But honestly, Team Fluff was the true champion of the Puppy Bowl thanks to having Chunky Monkey as a teammate. You’re probably wondering why Chunky Monkey got so much love and is getting so much love from me. I could say “Because she’s named after ice cream” and that would be reason enough! But also because she got in trouble for “excessive slumber” during the game:

Chunky Monkey cares so little about “sports” that she even goes mimi times during her own game. A relatable legend!
