Socialite And Model Harry Brant Has Died At 24

There are all kinds of deaths, from ones you expect, like when a person starts inching close to 100, and unexpected deaths, which shock you in a bad way. And then there are the ones that have everyone collectively saying, “That’s WAY too young,” which is likely what most people thought when they learned that New York socialite, model, and Stephanie Seymour’s son Harry Brant had died from an accidental overdose.

Harry’s family confirmed the news to The New York Times, saying that he was found dead on Sunday, the cause of death being an accidental prescription drug overdose. Harry struggled for years with addiction, a fact that his family acknowledged in the statement released after his death:

“We will forever be saddened that his life was cut short by this devastating disease. He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much more Harry could have done. Harry was not just our son. He was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favorite uncle and a caring friend. He was a creative, loving and powerful soul that brought light into so many people’s hearts. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out.”

Harry was born to Stephanie Seymour and billionaire publisher and art collector Peter Brant. You might be wondering if Harry was the son Stephanie was seen kissing and canoodling on the beach that day back in 2011, no – that would be Harry’s older brother, 27-year-old Peter Brant II. He also leaves behind his 16-year-old sister Lily Brant, and 31-year-old half-brother Dylan Andrews. Page Six says several in the fashion world posted tributes to Harry on Instagram, like designers Roberto Cavalli and Oliver Theyskens.

Harry and Peter became famous in New York society circles when they were teenagers, due to their love of expensive fashion and rich kid antics. Vanity Fair called the brothers, “Little Lord Flauntleroys,” and wrote about the brothers trying to crash the 2012 Met Gala with a gold-plated Rolls-Royce and a baby panther in a diamond necklace. But as mentioned in that statement above, Harry struggled with addiction. In 2016, Harry was arrested for skipping out on a $27.85 cab fare (after he lied to police about taking the cab in the first place). He was also found with a baggie on him, that authorities claimed were narcotics.

New York Magazine also once called them “NYC’s most beautiful teenage brothers” and Harry modeled in campaigns for Balmain and a spread in Italian Vogue. Harry and Peter also launched a unisex makeup collection with MAC in 2015 and a follow-up campaign in 2016. And just last month, Peter posted a picture from a makeup campaign that he and Harry modeled in:

Rest in peace, Harry Brant.
