R. Kelly Got Attacked By Another Inmate In Prison (UPDATE)

And in some shocking news, this is the first time that R. Kelly has been served a prison beatdown, that we know of. And no, he didn’t even get that fucked up.

R. Kelly is currently living at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago while waiting to face several child sex abuse charges (not to be confused with the charges he’s also facing in Minnesota and New York), and TMZ says that today, one inmate decided to beat the piss out of him. And no, the inmate didn’t punch R. Kelly up because he’s an alleged child rapist. The inmate beat R. Kelly’s ass because the prison had to go into a lockdown a couple of times over pro-R. Kelly protests happening outside of the prison. Yes, we’re living in a world and a time when there’s a group of people who actually think that a good way to spend their time is to protest for the release of fucking R. Kelly.

TMZ says that R. Kelly was sitting on the bed in his cell when the inmate popped up and fisted him in the face several times. The fight was eventually broken up, and a doctor looked him over and declared that he’s fine. Well, fine in the body, anyway. We know he isn’t find in the head. R. Kelly had no broken bones or serious injuries. R. Kelly’s Chicago attorney, Steven Greenberg, tells Page Six that the inmates were mad because they can’t get their commissary when there’s a lockdown. Don’t fuck with an inmate’s Honey Buns! Steven also says that R. Kelly is in solitary for his own protection:

“When they do this, inmates don’t get their commissary, they don’t get their shower, stuff like that and since they’re fairly sporadic anyway, they get upset. So they’re penalizing everyone in the facility because people are protesting in support of Kelly.”

The beatdown landed Kelly in solitary confinement because it’s the only place jail staff “can protect him,” Greenberg said, adding he’s unclear if the attacker has or will face punishment.

“But I’m still very concerned because sure this time the guards were able to quickly stop something from happening but what happens if someone goes in his cell with a shank or something like that? Or the guards are busy doing something else?” said Greenberg.

“We were fortunate this time but who’s to say next time?”

Oh, I see what’s happening here….

R. Kelly has tried several times to get out of prison and released into house arrest while he awaits trial. His lawyers tried to argue that he’s got health problems and with COVID-19 going around, he’s at higher risk. He’s been denied over and over again. And now he’s suddenly been attacked, didn’t get that messed up, and his lawyer is planting seeds to argue in court that he’s at risk of being attacked again. Why do I have that a feeling that during this “attack,” R. Kelly was screeching like he was being interviewed by Gayle King again, and his “attacker” had to say, “Bitch, tone it down. The scenery has been chewed!

UPDATE: And here we go, via CNN.

The alleged incident comes a week before one of Kelly’s attorneys, Tom Farinella, is set to argue for the singer to be released from prison ahead of his Brooklyn federal trial, which is scheduled to begin at the end of September.
“This incident coupled with the coronavirus restrictions at the MCC reinforces the need for Mr. Kelly to be released so he can assist in his defense with counsel and prepare for trial without the fear that his personal safety is at risk,” Farinella said in a statement to CNN.
