Open Post: Hosted By Caesar, The Protesting Llama

Contrary to popular belief, there are actually llamas out there who have no time for drama. One of them happens to be Caesar, a cuddly five-year-old therapy llama who is somehow able to maintain his cool and not have a spastic meltdown while protesting injustice in massive crowds. According to his handler, Larry McCool (a therapy llama’s human would be named Larry McCool), Caesar isn’t here for drama. Instead, he’s all about the love.

Ceasar (pronounced SAY-zar) started making the rounds on the internet when Larry brought him to a Black Lives Matter protest in Portland, Oregon on June 2. While there, he obviously caused a commotion while remaining cool, calm and collected, which Larry thinks helped keep others strong.

“We wanted to show solidarity with everybody up there,” his handler, Larry McCool, told TODAY. “He just brings love and spreads the love.”

“He will just walk up to people and lean right against them or snuggle with them or ask them for attention,” he said. “He just wants somebody to hug him.” (girl, same)

Caesar is one of 15 llamas at Larry’s Mystic Llama Farm in Jefferson, Oregon, and by far the chillest. Larry McCool brought his llama along to be a calming presence and doesn’t think a cop will teargas him. Cut to Caesar getting teargassed.

“When we got invited to the event (by a friend), I think the intent was to kind of take the edge off,” he said. “Nobody’s going to tear-gas a llama, right?”

The good thing about bringing a llama with you is that they will spit at a trick for messing with you (even if the llama is no drama like Caesar) and they don’t need to carry a sign since their face always reads: Over This Bullshit!
