Lea Michele Is Reportedly Pregnant

If you had asked me a month ago why Lea Michele’s name might be trending during the COVID-19 pandemic, I would picture Lea assembling 10-to-12 former Glee cast members for an acapella Zoom charity sing-along (and yes, it would feature a problematic mash-up of “Hot Blooded” by Foreigner and “Fever” by Madonna). In a less-likely turn of events, Lea’s name is out there today because she’s most likely pregnant.

33-year-old Lea Michele has been busy (or, getting busy) with her 37-year-old husband of one year, Zandy Reich. When Lea tied the knot with Zandy last year, she gave People magazine the exclusive first look at her big fancy wedding. It seemed like Lea would have also given People the exclusive first look at her pregnancy by posing for a multi-page photoshoot featuring her hands in a heart shape over her first-trimester baby bump while staring hopefully into the distance. But we’re kind of in a lockdown situation here, and an extravagant maternity pictorial is kind of out of the question at the moment. She also didn’t drop a surprise pregnancy confirmation pic on Instagram, like she did when she broke the news of her engagement back in 2018. Instead, an anonymous source is doing the talking for Lea, via – you guessed it – People magazine, so it’s most likely true:

The 33-year-old former Glee actress is pregnant and expecting her first child with her husband, a source confirms to People exclusively. “They’ve always wanted to be parents,” the source tells People.

How did People not lead with a headline that read: Lea Michele’s life is headed in a New Direction.

Now on to the next relevant topic at hand. In the series finale of Glee, a jump-cut forward to the year 2020 showed us that Rachel Berry is pregnant as the surrogate mother to Blaine and Kurt’s child. Except this time, she’s keeping her baby. Oh no, was that a song they covered on Glee? Someone definitely did that, I’m sure.

I get Ryan Murphy is on the phone right now, congratulating Lea and thanking her for her commitment to a Ryan Murphy story arc. As he should be! Never doubt Lea’s dedication to her craft.
