Christian Siriano Is Making Masks To Help Medical Workers

March 22, 2020 / Posted by:

Finally, some coronavirus news that won’t make you want to bash your head against a wall. Christian Siriano, Project Runway winner and fashion designer, is getting down to business. And no, he’s not whipping up another enchanting and demure outfit for Billy Porter (although, Christian if you’re reading, we WILL be needing some glamour once it’s safe to go back outside again). Instead, he’s putting his next fashionable creation where his mouth is. Literally.

Christian has obviously been paying attention to the news. And upon hearing that there is a shortage of medical masks currently in circulation––mainly due to panic buying and celebrities glamorizing them in selfies while flying around on their private jets––he reached out to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and offered the services and resources of his in-demand fashion house to produce some more.

Governor Cuomo, in turn, graciously accepted the help and encouraged other similar organizations to assist.

Not only have Christian’s face masks been produced, but prototypes are out:

It should be mentioned: all of this was accomplished in ONE WEEKEND (and he’s not selling them for a profit like other messes). This is what it looks like when people with means, power, and opportunity (see also: Bethenny Frankel) can actually set aside the bullshit and get working on saving lives. After reading this, I’ve got no snark left in me…for now.
