After Getting Shit, The Hallmark Channel Will Bring Back A Lesbian Wedding Commercial

December 16, 2019 / Posted by:

The Hallmark Channel decided to pull a wedding advertisement with lesbians because conservative group One Million Moms told them to. Then the world reacted, shitting all over them because, Hallmark? Not gay? Kristin Chenoweth in a Christmas movie starring opposite the guy who plays the dad in the Nancy Drew reboot? The gays already up inside of Hallmark. So they had to reverse course and are now apologizing for the whole thing and giving the lesbians back their power (and targeted marketing).

The ad in question is for Zola  which is a wedding planning website. The ad features a lesbian wedding and one of those platonic hand-on face kisses which I think isn’t even really kissing? I think in acting classes they teach you how to do that in your first semester. It is bone-dry:

Too hot for the anti-gays, though. Two women kissing on their Christian network? Naw. One Million Moms erupted and got Hallmark to pull the ad. And after that happens, the LGBTQ+ community erupted louder.

Even Ellen Degeneres hopped on Twitter to call them out because only her bestie George W. Bush is allowed to impede on gay rights!

People got a statement from Mike Perry, the President of Hallmark Cards, Inc.:

“The Crown Media team has been agonizing over this decision as we’ve seen the hurt it has unintentionally caused. Said simply, they believe this was the wrong decision. Our mission is rooted in helping all people connect, celebrate traditions, and be inspired to capture meaningful moments in their lives. Anything that detracts from this purpose is not who we are. We are truly sorry for the hurt and disappointment this has caused.”

They tweeted about it too saying they’ll be working with GLAAD to gay-up the place, so expect a card that’s like “To: Top Husband–Love: Bottom Husband,” which would just show they still don’t know the gays because if they did it would be “To: Vers Husband–Love: Vers-Bottom Husband”.

GLAAD also put out a statement, thanking Hallmark for changing their minds and flaming One Million Moms as a “fringe” group:

Of course Hallmark reversed course, this is their hot season. Like Mariah Carey, they can’t waste Christmas time on controversy. It’s all about cashing in, and lesbians have tons of money. Lucky for Hallmark they know how to quickly drop a controversy on its ass.
